Rustproof ek's???
I have heard rumors from a few people that the EK's were saposed to be rustproof. I was wondering if this is really true.
I ask this b/c my EK is definately rusted out in the drivers side rear wheel well. It is gettin worse fast and i'm goin to have to spend money and fix it
I was debating if it would be worth it to call honda and see if they would do anything about it, if infact they did say that the EK's were rustproof....
Any input is apreciated, thanks

ek's use galvinized steel which they started using on civics starting in 93. Ek's will still rust out if the paint gets damaged. On the rear wheel well lip is the most common place. Honda used rubber gaskets on that lip and in some cases water, dirt and salt got under there and started eating away. I know on my car it wasen't too bad but on the side i had replaced because of a deer it is starting to rust.
My tip to you is to take off the rubber protectors because they just trap the water and salt.

my car would be perfect if it were rust proof & dent proof, and my paint was oxidize proof, peel proof and fade proof.
but until they come up with that, i got the coupe from hell.

Get it rust proof asap. Make sure it is the ones that drips, using oil base so it can get into every crack of the car. The car will be a little messy (oily) but it is for the better good.
Take out the rubber strip at the back and everytime you wash your car, use your finger to rub against the inner metal to get most of the dirt and salt out of it.
Check your car at least once a month and make sure you have a rust-off solution handy (blue colour solution) so you can rub away the rust and touch it up. Wear gloves while working with that solution, it hurts your skin after 30 seconds of contact.
