Default Toda Racing header finally installed, comments etc.

I got it on monday Oct 29th and just installed it this afternoon in my garage. It didnt take a long time though. As for power I notice that it gives me more mid-range than the Spoon 4-1, which I previuosly owned, but I didnt get a chance to take it to the 6700 RPM VTEC range yet, so I cant comment on top end power yet.

As for ground clearance, it sits more snugly closer to the oil pan, thus I dont really have to worry about scraping it or denting the piping. Thats why I got rid of the spoon one. Anyhow, I took some engine degreaser and sprayed my block down and cleaned it before I put the header on. I like the appearance of a clean engine bay. Anyhow, I dont have any dyno numbers yet, so dont ask.

Yeah, I can't wait to report how the upper RPM's feel. But one thing I was told is that the Toda header doesn't make as much top-end as the Spoon, but hey, I can always swap in a stright pipe to make up for the top end loss.

For now I'm running a cat on the street, dont want to get busted driving around w/o a cat.

As for those little springs on the side, I think toda put it there for looks ...too bad it doesnt disconnect though

Same here.. I wanna hear the result.. im planning to get my header very soon.. and im still debating weather to go spoon or toda.. although the ground clearance issue might be reason enough for me to go with toda

I look forward to hearing your results...

I am planning on getting the Spoon 4-2-1 header soon - how low is it really? My car is stock height, am I going to scrape going over speedbumps?

can you please measure the diameter of the primaries near the flange and by the joint at the secondaries merge collector for both headers and the length of the primaries/secondaries for comparison purposes?

I can't remember who but someone posted the following diameters for the Toda header from the Toda catalog.

Primaries are 45mm
Secondaries are 50mm
Collector ID is 60mm

I didn't know Toda made sleeves
nice. another part that people will sweat because of it's brand name.

i'm sure the JDM quality is a lot better than Darton or Golden Eagle.

I didn't say it performed well because it was Toda
in fact I didn't mean to say anything

I was just stating I didn't know Toda made sleeves, that's all

If your car is stock height then I wouldn't worry too much but still keep in mind that it hangs like an inch or more lower than the lowest point on the oil pan.

The outer diameter of the Toda collector is 2.5", but I wonder why they made the inner diameter of the header 60mm? I was thinking of getting a 2.5" diameter exhaust, but if the collector is 60mm, then I should just stick with my regular 60mm Apexi exhaust?

Yummy, I wonder how much these parts are and labor costs?

anyhow, if I were to sleeve my block I'd go with a 84mm bore and bump displacement to 2.0L

I wont be suprised when this header barely outperforms a stock JDM. It looks nice though.

84mm bore wont = 2.0 liters on a GSR block. You will have about 1.95 . Pretty close none the less. Header looks nice, but for the price i'll spend a little extra and get a hitech, or save a little and get sms or some other header.

You guys got me nervous now, imagine if I had a header that doesnt make no more power than the JDM 4-1 header?

Is this the Toda Conspiracy?

We'll all find out soon enough. The last I heard, the great header debate test was going down in the middle of december.
