Default Engine question on 91 Civic

My friend has a 91 Civic standard. Not the Si, and not the DX. He has the shitball version. 4 speed manual no power anything... hell no power engine lol.

Anyhow, he was searching up the stats on it online. His engine code is D15B1 (IIRC), and everywhere he saw online it said it's a 74hp, 93 or something torque 8 valve engine. When he read the whole 8 valve deal he was like uhhh. His valve cover has 16 valve on it. Anyone have a clue what's up with his engine? It is suppose to be a 8 valve, and if it is a 16 valve what sort of "power" does it really have.

this isn't anything major, he's going to do the SiR-I swap anyhow, but was just curious.

Most of them came with the 16 valve still low hp though. Only a few of the d15b1 came with the 8 valve. Glad my standard didn't.
