price range for B18C5
Is there a difference in price between a shortblock USDM and a shortblock JDM? I'm looking to change out my torqueless B16 for something with more prestige, not to mention power.

haha you guys are hilarious.i was using JDM as a reference to all type r engines; the engine will be going into a 00 Si. So from what i understand in order for it to be legit the engine has to be from the same year or newer, which is why i asked about the price range on USDM and JDM type r motors. I think its pretty hard to find a 00-01 jdm type r shortblock.

You'll find it cheaper used, I think brand new b18c5 is around 10-14k from Acura(?).
Both run 4-5k used. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I believe its around 6-8K for a complete brand new ITR long block from Acura, not including tranny

jdm = japanese domestic market..... that IS a place............... so much for making others look stupid, huh?
you can get the jdm b18c-r for around $4500 complete. doesn't make sense to get a new c5 block for twice that price.

Most places/people don't sell ITR shortblocks mainly 'cause they'd rather sell the whole swap. Really the only place to get a shortblock is from Acura, and thats a lot... But a JDM ITR goes anywhere from about $4K to $5K depending on year/condition, etc... maybe even more. Expect to pay more for a USDM too, cause there's less of them out there.
If your just looking for B18 block though, maybe you could try a GSR block, I'm sure theres some C1 blocks floating around out there.

I couldn't tell you what's needed, I don't really know, but a new B18C5 shortblock from Acura is a shitload...more than a used complete swap I think.
just checked, a '99 Si new block (no tranny, no head) is almost $2600 list price from Honda, I'd imagine C5 would be a lot more, just to give you an idea. But I'm not sure, check on it, let us know what you find.
How about you use the money you were going to use for the Hype-R motor and go with some forced induction. If you were willing to pay $4500 for 50 extra horses and 20 ft/lbs or torque you must be hemorrhaging money.
