smell gas inside the car.. what could it be and how can i fix it?
Sometimes when im driving around I smell gas inside the car... Its way worst when someone sits in the back.. could it be the seal for the gas pump under the seat?? if so will some silicone do the trick??
its really annoying and i always have to drive with the windows down.. (also because i have a stupid exhaust leak) but i can tell the difference between the two..
any feedback is appreciated...

how well is your catalytic converter? I know sometimes that can be a problem and stink up the car.
well, i know for a fact that the fuel lines in the 4g civic and the 2g integra are inside the car (and i assume the 5g, but i havn't checked), you may have popped a leak perhaps.
Also, the fuel pump should be accessible from under the rear seat in the 5g (so i'm told), check it out.

i dont believe that the fuel lines are inside the car in a 5g but im not positive, i would check the pump gasket or even check under the hood for any fuel leaks from injectors or filter

for the eg the fuel lines run under the car . now i know that for a fact. but still u are not saying what yr car u have. but if u say its worse in the back seat then pull up the seat and see if its leaking
Have you checked under the car for puddles of gas? My accord had a bad gas leak and the car smelled like ***. Jack up the car and follow the fuel line from the gas tank to the engine.
PS. If it's dark.... dont use a lighter for light

LOL thanks for the tip.. Theres no puddle.. im assuming its the seal for the pump.. when someone sits back there it becomes more noticable.. also when gas splashes around the tank you can get a nice whiff..
I hope its not from under the hood.. i didnt notice any stains from dried up fuel.. and we checked for leaks when we dropped the motor in.. doesnt hurt to make sure though..
oh yea.. the fuel lines are under the car.. thanks

i had the same problem. You should check your fuel injector seals maybe they are bad and gas is dripping from the fuel rail onto your hot manifold and the you get the nasty *** smell in your car. Gave me a headache and a sour throught for a few days it sucked ***.
