Was thinking of getting a 4pt. Roll bar, just was wondering what the weight was of these things? Also would anyone know if you'd have to remove the back speakers? Thanks.
I think it's around 80 lbs. for the roll bar, not sure exactly, i'm curious as well. And i think you do loose the back speakers, might be able to work around it though. There's some great pics of an install at http://www.itrca.com
Take out the rears, put in some better fronts...speakers are weight anyway

not sure about weight, but speakers can remain. I've seen speedpak's rear speakers w/ the AP bar installed.
yoshi - who needs somesort of roll/crash protection next year!

It's around 70 lbs. You're supposed to remove the rear speakers. You can move them off to the side though.
Safety is far more important than weight. 70 lbs is nothing compared to a week in the hospital.

I REALLY wish that I had gotten the bar on a scale before I put it in. However, the comments about the bar weighing 80 lbs just can't be true. When my bar came, it came as one main hoop with the harness bar and cross brace installed. The two rear support bars were saran wrapped to the main hoop, along with all the hardware. So, it was all together, and I could easily carry it all with one hand with little effort (I'm pretty big, but 80 lbs would be a lot of weight for one arm not to notice). I've carried 50 lbs of dog food, and that feels like a lot more. Damn, I wish I knew for sure.
BTW, I have also heard that you can retain your rear speakers. I didn't bother. It seems like you could do it, but it would take some imagination.

I just weighed it the other night, all packed up with bolts 60lbs, unpacked ready to go in the car around 50lbs. ,

Sux to be me... Since I always have to "have my cake", and eat it with icecream too(want my back seats and OE speaker locations), I'll probably end up with a "creative" custom roll bar/cage. "It's not that I like expensive things... it's just that all the things I like are expensive"... quoting myself in a conversation I had with my mother before many here were born...
Anyone know of one that lets you keep both?

What are the negatives to getting a 4pt. roll bar (if any)? Would it be ideal for both road and drag racing? Also for those who have them already or helped install them, how long was the typical process?
