hmm, any reason to why ACT is crap? I've been beating the crap out of my HDSS for the last 1-1.5 years and it's holding just fine. When I took it out last winter, it looked fine, it still had the material divisions, but it had a little less material than when I installed it (makes sense from all the racing I do), but it grabs fine and is perfect, IMO.
you have the street disk? i have a ACT 4-puck unsprung that was used and didnt last me very long it was free so i dont care. it did grab good but
i have been hearing a lot of good things about clutchmaster but since so many people use act there are bad things that are said. Im going to order a new clutch tommorow and im not sure what i wanna get yet

never heard anything bad about ACT...they are really good..but have also heard a lot of good things of clutchmasters...i think clutchmasters just cost a bit more.

ACT is good in my book.
since you got the 4 puck disc for free, it aint so bad but for daily driven cars you should opt for the HDSS clutch...alot smoother engagement for day-to-day driving.

i use to have a clutchmaster stage 2 in my car. it was a really good clutch i have to admit.
now im running the act hdss. i would have to say it's pretty much the same. i daily drive my car work and school for about 8 months now. no probs.

ACT Xtreme is not good for the long run. Every time u shift gears the pressure plate is so stiff that it has the potential to move ur crank and from time that'll wear out ur thrust bearing. That acutally can ruin your block. I've seen a couple cars that has had this problem and there block has ceased up due to the ACT clutch. They are to hard on the block and could bend forks and ruin it . Do some researching!

ahaha lol... i would liek to see some pics of this?? b/c i have been beating on my XTSS every ****** day (250miles/week) and its awesome still and i have raced many other stock gs-rs and rompped for some reason (82k on my motor)?? so unless you can backup your statement your wrong b/c i have driven 5 gsr's from ACT, clutchmasters, and exedy blah ablah..
i found that clutch masters is a nice clutch and a little more affordable but ACT is much more responsive with its pressure plate/pedal feeling and bits a tad harder.. both friends with exedy's craped out on them for some reason??? i have no clue why maybe b/c they cant drive and launch their cars all the time, but ACT XTSS is nice for street turbo set-ups, spray, N/A.. it can really take a good beating from my own personal experience!!

An extreme pressure plate is hardly enough to do this. I was running a JG clutch for the last 2 years. Must have been the heaviest pressure plate on the market. I compared it to my friends extreme, no contest. 2 master cylinders blown, 2 slave cylinders blown, one rubber hydraulic line blown, and 1 broken in half clutch fork. Never did anything to my engine even though I was warned of what you were just saying. My cousin had a clutch master stage 3 in his car for 4 years. Turbo gs-r. Held awesome, felt great and lasted obviously a long time considering. He eventually lost a spring and had to change it. CM is probably one of the longer lasting clutches on the market and I would recommend one over an act. Even though they cost a bit more for virtually the same thing. But I'm not at all bashing ACT. Even though I won't own one.

man i hope ACT doesn't suck i just bought there streetlite flywheel and a new OEM clutch over a EXEDY stage one just to save on drivability. Does anyone know anything i should take into consideration before installing the flywheel?
