My friend has a '96 non-vtec Accord (believe thats the F22B2). He is thinkin about droppin the JDM V6 3.0 engine (I-VTEC) in his Accord. That engine puts out 247hp / 218torque, compared to the H22's 220 (type S) hp and 165 torque.
What would go into installing the V6 into his 5th gen Accord? Thanks

is this supposed to be the JDM version (which i doubt they make) of the current USDM 3.0 V6 used in the 7th gen accord?? if so it's not going to happen very easily or cheaply.

Why don't you just tell him to put in a H22 and not worry about the hassle because if he really wants a v6 car then he should just buy one cause it will take that much money to put that motor into his car.
I have to chime in too. not worth it. It wouldn't even be worth it if it were one of the older Isuzu iron blocks, too much weight, too tight a fit, not enough payoff. Turbo the F, he'll be happy he did. The H's are neat, but remember, those #s you're quoting are bench, not to the ground, I guarantee you the S won't put 220 down, maybe 190 (at best), but not 220, so keep that in mind too. By means of example, my F22b2 was rated at 135, with i/h/e it will put down 118 at best.
One last thing to add here as well, This is a thing that also cannot be done with a 5th Gen Accord V6 Engine as well. So cut your friend off at the pass, if he thinks it can't be done just because you are trying to put I-VTEC Technology in a car that never had it. Size, Weight, and overall cost just make this a very unwise move considering the alternatives that you have.

If he wants to get a v6 car tell him to get a 5speed mazda mx6 ls or preobe gt 93-97, my 93 ls 5speed mx6 walked on 2 h22 accords, and a b16+nitrous hatch, all mine had done to it was, cold air intake, custom cat back, headers, short threw shifter, and reground cams

OT but I am going to say those cars didn't know how to drive
because a mx6 is SLOW as molasses in a January snow storm

Yeah turbo that F series or spend the money that he would have spent with the V6 swap on a turbo H22.
Also OT...I've gotta stand up for the mx6 just a littl bit. Though the I4 are indeed as slow as a dead turtle through peanut butter, the ones with the JDM v6 (higher compression ratio dont know what other differences) are pretty quick.
