G-Stock battle in New Jersey
Howdy All,
I figured I will make public the battle between Matt (el pollo diablo) and myself for NJ G-Stock Championship. This weekend will decide who will be the first loser. Most likely one of us will lose the championship by one point ! (if we did the math correct) So, come out and see the Battle Royale this Saturday, November 3rd, Englishtown, NJ.

We thought all the points events were done also, but last week the site( http://www.autox4u.com ) was updated and November 3rd was added as a points event.
Good luck to you Dave and also to Matt,
I wish I could show for some support like you did but, I have to work that day. I'll keep you guys in mind when I feed a couple of hundred people...
As a side, I have the 11th free for my next meet at the Palisades "sharing my car with Rodney," so I hope for best for you and hope to see you soon...
BTW Dave, check out: http://www.wscc.org/results/2001/ax20011021.htm for the times for that day!
Chris won his class
Jay won his class
Rob is a pretty quick driver
I am on the bottom in Novice CSP but my times improved steadily over all 6 runs and I stayed ahead of that JRSC'd ITR, I just wish my fun run was a real timed run "37.555." All in all I'm definately hooked! Thanks for the introduciton to all the fun.
Good luck,
Anton

Good luck to both you and Matt... well, it might not be over for you guys but definitely over for me. We had the same exact course set up last week as the week before and I was 1.5 sec slower because the hoosiers I'm running on just don't like the cold weather we're having....Ask Matt, he had fun watching me spinning , lost control and going backward.......

...Yet I was over .6 seconds faster this past weekend than the first time the course was laid out. The fact that we had the same course helped me tremendously because I really don't have time to walk the course properly (at least 4-5 times) in the morning due to setup and registration. I knew the course and just drove harder and... viola!... My first PAX win.
Also, the event on November 3rd was always part of our normal points series, not a late addition. We offered 13 points events but only take the best 9 because people may have other obligations throughout the season that keep them from racing.
As for the GS battle, my money is on the driver with fresher tires... only soft, compliant rubber will prevail this late in the season.

The Kuhmos are the R compound tire to have in the cold weather. They do much better than the Hoosier Radial. If it looks like it is going to be cold the day of the race as well, I would bring a bunch of towels to cover the tires after your runs to try and keep what little bit of heat in the tires that you can.
Speaking of next season....I was speaking with Jim Howard at Summit Point this past weekend and he told me that the final decisions were being mead to allow the DC region to run at Fed-Ex Field (redskin Stadium). If it goes through, we will be hosting a National Tour the first weekend in June. Woo Hoo. Keep your fingers crossed and I will keep you posted.

i wish i could come and hang out and root on the g-stockers but i gotta work too. can't even come run the cutlass. took the harnesses out and put them in the new ef project. good luck guys.
I know what you guys are going through. Going into the last event of our region I was tied for 1st place with another guy in STS. Well the last run he pulled a 0.033 second better time than me taking first by ONE point
Oh well there's always next year but 2nd place is getting boring two years in a row

G Stock is always one of the most fun watch group in AutoX.......
Just hope the weather will be warmer this coming weekend......last week was too cold that I found no traction at all.

I had no problems with traction...in fact the sliding of the rear made me faster....i had the tail stepping out pretty much at every corner, but i was able to retain the momentum....i swear my rear tires were worn out more than the fronts....in fact I had 5th fastest RAW time (pats himself on the back)...i cant remember last time i had that much fun....
This Saturday should prove to be just as interesting

G-stock Battle decided and the better driver won hands down ! Not me, but, el pollo diablo (Matt).
Send him a congratulations on his second championship ! He is definitely a great driver.
It was a course that required patience for two reasons => rain in the morning and a turn that taken at any speed produced a spin. This turn was so bad that I didn't have a clean run, until Matt helped me out for my last run. With his help, it was good enough for me to go from last (well at least last among the Type R's) to second place. A fun but frustrating weekend of autocrossing. Through frustration you can actually learn alot.
Over the winter, I will definitely miss the competition and comraderie. This is one of the few sports where your fiercest competitor actually gives you tips and is a friend. A great year !
Well, I am parking the R and autocrossing the Miata for the rest of the non-points events.
