My Friend Has a 97 Gsr motor in his 99 civic which ones are they best for a , or should he just go with JE pistons? He just wants the stock size piston no boring out or anything. What would be the best bet? and heres the rest of his setup Injen Intake, CTR Cams and 5zigen exhaust and a b16 tranny

 

jdm itr pistons. make sure to get better valve springs and retainers to be on the safe side.

 

With those pistons I think he will be ok w/stock valvtrain. The upgrade will be good if he went w/ctr cams or skunk 2's.

 

He has CTR intake cam Already

itr pistons are great with the ctr cam you jump from 10.1 comp to 11.1, your valve train should be straight as long as you stick with the 82 redline. actually the gsr exhaust v spring is stronger than the itr exh v spring. itr sping is lighter because it revs more. but on the itr the int v spring is stronger than gsr. je pistons are great too especially i you want nos later on. but DONT get ctr pistons from what i hear that will give u a 12.1 to 12.5 . 1 comp wich is pretty high and valve clearance becomes a problem.
