100 bucks reasonable for spring installation
ive gotten two different places' prices for spring installation
one for 80 and one for 100 , but the 100 one is just much more convienent since its really close to the place im gonna pick the springs up at
i also called stillen which charges 200 flat installations and im definately not going for that haha
what kind of price ranges am i looking at in terms of installations
any place u guys recommend for my alignment next week in orange county? am i looking around the 50 buck price range? for alignments?

Indeed. Grab a friend, go rent a spring compressor ( I think that's what it's called... rent one from autozone for like $10-20), find a good write-up, and do it yourself. I am an idiot and had a shop do it for me. I also got shocks installed too though.

it's true...but kinda dangerous. *Use a big towel to cover the spring when your loosening the top nuts...and point that **** away from you
BOING!
Anyway, call around to all the little speed shops in the area. I found a place for an install for springs/shocks for $50 flat. And they did it in ~30min.
God i envy airtools - use this to find them: http://www.switchboard.com (the shop not the tools)

Well, it kind of depends on the springs you get too. But when you open it, just lay it flat on the ground, put your legs around it, then open. It doesnt really fly anywhere. To put the springs back on, it depends on the springs. If you got springs that really lower your car, then usually you can just have a couple people press down while another screws in the nut. If you got a set that is a conservative drop and you cant just press it in, all you have to do is sit in an area like the front porch or in a hallway, then sit with your back to a wall then have the butt end of the shock against the wall, then press with your legs while you screw it in. Sounds funny, but works well. Just make sure you put a board or something on the bottom of t he shock so it doesnt mess up the wall unless its concrete. Ive done many spring installs with all sorts of drops using this method, but its up to you.
do not try that towel trick!! we did it a long time ago and someone almost got fucked up.. that thing shoots out regardless of the towel and u could loose the nuts and washers...
auto zone rents out spring compressors for free.. give them ur info and put down a c.card and when u return it THEY DONT CHARGE YOU.

you are crazy, I had someone from HT (infinity racer) install mine. We didn't have a spring compressor, so I voluntereed to push down the front spring down, while he unscrewed the cap. *BAM*, I feel something nail me right next to my nose and right under my eye. I don't know if it was a screw or the spring itself, but all of that pressure knocked me down on the ground. Blood starting gushing out of the side of my nose and I initially thought I broke my nose.If that had hit me in the eye, I would be wearing one of those pirate patches for the rest of my life I bet.
But yah, I had a yellow bruise with a gash that took 1 week to heal up...so don't be stupid like us and go rent a spring compressor!

Why didnt your put it on the ground and open it so that it faces a wall? I have done this 5+ times and no problems whatsoever.

I would say save your money and do it your self. A three legged dog with one eye could do this. It just takes some time and patience if you have never done it before. Rent a spring compressor and get a buddy and it will be good to see that you can do installs yourself rather than spending your hard earned money.
very dangerous **** though so be careful if you do it yourself... I did mine myself and I'd rather pay the 50-80 bucks for someone else to risk it course after I got em on I drove 120 but that's not the point

I second that! My rear bolts seized and we broke both so i had to drill that f'er out of there and then replace both the bearing and the bolts.
If you have the time then yeah go do it yourself. You will kick yourself in the head for paying $100 for something you could do in a day off of work or whatever.
And don't listen to the guys who say "dont use a spring compressor" cuz i say dont be a ******** and not use one. Place a down payment and when you return the tol they return the money. Its not that difficult so just take the extra step to do it right.

Simple job even w/o spring compressor. Take off the whole strut and put between two tires. Let them absorb the impact, but be careful, those springs can fly anywhere.
what if your a little 5'3" 16 year old kid.. would you recommend one of those little guys (me) busting a DIY? or just rather take it to a shop and get it done professionally lol
$80 to $100 is a good deal. I'd jump on it, because if you've never done it before yourself, it will take you half a day. The mod shops and mechanics have all the tools necessary to get it done fast and properly.
