Default is it worth it

hey i am gong for a mild daily driving Na set up on a gsr. car will see autocross and occasional spirited driving.

Gonna do CAI, N1 and Dc 4-1, skunk2 valvetrain, spoon type r pistons, act clutch, flywheel, cam gears.

my questions are what cams should i get? ITR cams for $500 Skunk2 stage 2's run $700, is the skunk2 give me two hundred dollars worth of more power, what's the hp difference?

what can the hondata s200 do for this setup, where can i learn how to use it or should i just go s100 if i need any at all?

also is the skunk2 manifold that much better should i get it, kinda broke?

thanks, also if you guys dont think this is a good setup and have suggestions let me know.

skunk cams go for cheaper than that.. i see them go in the 500s. just search for the right deal.. my friend found skunk stage 1 cams for 450 shipped and another guy for 500 shipped..remember, stage 1 and stage2 cost the same.

stage 2s make power up to about 9k and type rs only make power to 8.4-8.5k. So if your a higher revving car i would say stages 2's

Actually, the ITR cams make power up to 8000rpm. Thas when the ITR peaks at.

Get the Skunk2 cams. It WILL make more power than ITR cams. Especially since you're gonna get the pistons, valvetrain and cam gears already. Just get a ecu that will allow you to rev to 9000rpm and get it tuned on a dyno. Your car will rip.

Plus every power mod you get on your car, the bigger cams will help out even more. For example, later on when you get a Skunk2 IM, better flowing header, exhaust, etc. you'll be gaining more.

But don't get me wrong... ITR cams are great too.

I wouldn't invest in an expensive intake, just an ebay one should be good enough. Make sure that you get the JDM DC 4-1 due to the larger collector, and make sure that you get a cat and exhaust that are appropriately sized as well. As far as Spoon pistons, it's really a waste, I would invest in a set of JDM ITR pistons and run a Spoon headgasket. It's good to see that you're upgrading the clutch and flywheel. Don't cheap out on the cam gears though. I think that your cam decision really depends upon you. For a more mild setup, the ITR/CTR cams should do nicely, however if you want to go a little crazy, then the Skunk2's will work nicely. I would definately invest in a different intake manifold if doing this because these mods will shift the powerband up a bit. I recommend the Hondata S100 if you don't have regular access to a dyno, because the only place you should be tuning is on a dyno.

only get the skunk2 stage 2's if you are bumping up your compression, if you throw on cam's more aggressive than itr/ctr/s2s1 you will be "overcamming"your engine and possible lose power. But it seems as though you are set on pistons so sks2 will be good

The intake manifold will compliment you cams good. You possibly might want to look into 2.5 collector header and a high flo cat for sure. I know my usdm dc 4-1 header is restrictive on my setup and so is my apex ws.

Oh yeah and tune tune tune~~!!!

I think the guy who posted before you pretty much said the same exact thing, only more eloquently. Nice try, however, and keep it up!

i'm surprised nobody has mentioned suspension yet. i would invest some of the money into suspension as well, especially since you might be autocrossing the car.
