Default your thoughts please.

i have volk ce28n's coming in a week or two. my falken azenis tires have already arrived. i was planning on mounting the azenis on the ce's.

i also remembered that i have a set of si rims.

now, i want to mount the azenis on the si wheels and use them strictly for track days.

what do you guys think? is it good to play it safe and not let the volks anywhere near the track? also, what happens if i let the tires sit for maybe 2 months?

keep in mind that im 17 and jobless, so i dont have money to waste.

OT: any site that shows what to look for when it comes to ers springs? height, stiffness, etc.

Why buy light rims and then not use them for racing?

Then maybe you have more important things to worry about than racing. Whoa, did I just say that?

i think driving the volks on the street will be 10x more risky than tracking the volks.

curbage, accidents, potholes, other cars...

though going offtrack happens and its never pretty when it does, unless you're W2W i see open lapping being much safer than going to the grocery store, as far as your wheels are concerned.

Any wheels that you take to the track should be considered disposable. They're going to get munged up with brake dust, tire worms, dirt and who knows what else.

There's also the danger of a rim braking or getting bent.

If you're looking to use these wheels and sell them later, just sell them now and save the money.

I think there more danger in using the Volks on the street... at least where I live. Pot holes galore!

For autocross I can see you pushing the car 9/10ths or so, but at a track day 7 - 8/10th in a street car shouldn't be cause for concern about damaging the wheels.

Do you already have tires on the Si rims? If so mount the Azenis on the Volks and use for autocross/track day and use the Si rims for everyday.

Whatever you choose don't be a bone-head and race on the street... and get a job. Selling crack is no way to support your racing habit.

17...jobless...Volks...track days. Something about this just doesn't add up.

I'll agree w/ some of the stuff that was said.

Volks are racing wheels. Even at a track day, they are still being under-utilized.

that said...

The Si wheels will be fine, and the stock backspacing shouldn't present too many rubbing issues.

I say sell the Volks, get some Rotas (still light and strong) and use the money for something more practical.

most likely some lass as will bend the volks lip either trying to get the azenis on or off.

the Si's are only 6in wide ? since I know there worth about 400 bux I would sell them and buy these in 15x6.5 since they only go for about 115 ea and I've yet to have a problem with mine + at only 10.5 #'s ea there still alot lighter than the Si's

So your parents pay for that car eh. Nice!

Wish my volks were in the mail and thats what I spent my pension on.

I had a set of ssr's on the way to me until I got news of being laid off and had to flake out

As others have said, driving on the street is much rougher on wheels than at the track. Plus, IIRC the CEs are forged, and much stronger than the Si wheels. Thus far my Rays have survived many of nasty DC potholes and a few agricultural excursions... Plus my car is much heavier and has low profile tires. Other than the brake dust baked into the finish and the scratches from me being a dumass while parallel parking in DC, they're structurally fine (I should have waxed them early on).
