Default Removing heater core, bypass or plug?

To those who removed their heater core, did you loop the coolant lines or can you just plug them?

This is the only pic I've found doing a search

Remove the outlet fitting from the head and install a threaded plug. Remove the thermostat housing and have the inlet from the heater core welded shut.

Keeps it nice and clean and simple.

Thanks!

What kind of threaded plug? Can I get one from a local auto parts store?

Is there no advantage to letting it circulate?

Pointless to letting it circulate, that would be the same as just driving around with the heater controls set to full hot, but without the heater core to cool it off.

Can't remember what the thread is on the outlet of the head, but it is fairly easy to take out, and then just take it with you to get a matching thread.
