Civic Transmission Housing Crack at Drain Plug Opening
While trying to remove the drain plug on a 2000 Civic DX, the transmission housing opening around the drain plug had metal pieces break off as shown in picture. The plug was difficult to remove so had to extension bar. And as I removed the plug, I noticed couple of metal pieces fall in the oil pan. Also had a few metal shaving fall in. It seems the previous owner may have used some type of RTV sealant (the washer was missing).
Would welding or sealing with RTV sealant or JB Weld work? I don't mind plugging this up permanently. There is may be 1 or 2 threads left on the housing to get the plug on. Though the plug threads are worn and may need a new one.
Any recommended method of repair with details is appreciated.
