Thinking of getting a EP3....any suggestions
I have been throwing around the idea of getting a new SI hatch. I know lots of the haters say they look like a giant egg, but who cares, I like it a lot!!
Anyway, I am 21 and I have credit through 3 credit cards, all of them currently paid off, and no debts except student loans when I graduate.
My only monthly bill as of right now is my cell phone bill. I was curious if I put $1000 down, what would my monthly payments look like ? Also, what does the insurance payments look like ?

For loan estimates, use one of the many loan calculators available online (just type loan calculator into google or they have them on autotrader, car dealer websites, etc).
My guess is that you'll get a fairly good APR (2.9-6%) and probably be looking at something
like 300-350 a month, depending on the length
of the loan.
For insurance "guesses", most insurance websites (geico, progressive) have a quote
you can access online. Just start to register
like you want a new policy and use a 2004 Si
as your car. It will give you a good guess of
what you pay.
Everyone's credit rating/accident history is
different, so you can't always go by what people
tell you.
Also, try not to pay more than 16.5K for an 04,
or even less for an '03.
It should be doable (the Si's dont' sell well)

hey, did they give you alot of **** for not having a lot of credit ?
Did your parents co-sign ?
how much does your monthly income have an effect ? I make $360 a month with some bullshit part time job at school

I can afford a loan for 12-13k not 19-22k........
I am curious if the dealerships will finance me ? The only thing holding me back is the insurance rates for this car....cuz I am only 21.
Who knows.....I Have been hearing these Si motors are slow and the car is too heavy for the mods to help at all....

another enthusiast in deep need of advice. are you in the market for a new car? with that wage, i guarantee hassles on payments, my o2 cents. stick to pre-owned especially if college tuition gets in the way. i have seen 02 and si oners come and go for financial reasons. if you want power for what you pay for... if you want a reliable dd... i don't wanna be biased so, let's hear what other ep owners and enthusiast say.
fyi. i pay 370/ mo. 1.9 APR. 150 for full coverage insurance(hopefully next year it'll change... it sucks since no one is really buying ep's)... and i put down 5k and traded my ek. sucks don't it? the only advantage is... the car's completely reliable.

There is a guy on here with an 02 Si with 40k selling his for 12,600. I would put 2k down , and finance 10500, that would come out to be approx 220/month plus insurance around 150/month so i would be paying 370 a month.....
Thats what I have been thinking so far....

Preowned would definitely be your best bet, but keep looking unless you are in desperate need of a car. 12.6k seems like a lot for an EP with 40k miles. To give you an idea I just ran a KBB on my EP3 with about 8500 miles in excellent condition and it was listed at around $13.5k, meaning that +32,000 miles plus anything that might impair the condition of the car would make the value of my car at least $2k if not $3k cheaper. See if the the owner can come down on the price and it would make it a better buy.
All that of course depends on where you live, but at least it might give you an idea.

yeah, i would def like to see what I can get for a 02 or 03 Si.
Too all the EP owners out there, is it worth it to finance a 03 Si....or would I be better off looking at a EG w/ a swap ??
I am not necessarily looking for a camaro killer or anything, but I would like it to be quick. Insurance is definetely a factor......but I dont think its too much more on the EP.

The quickest EP3's (so far) are either boosted or have a K20A/A2 engine swap. That's an additional 2-5K beyond what you'll pay for the car initially.
These things (as with most FWDs, imo) weren't made to boogie in a straight line. With stock motor, i/h/e + hondata and some other minor mods will probably get you into high, high 14s with an good driver and good tires. Unless you are on the bottle or boosting.

dont buy the Si....tranny sucks.
go buy a used supra, 300zx....they are the same price with better build quality and stronger motors and tranny's..

Well, my friends and I have done over 4 swaps, so we are comfortable with the B series engine. Its most economical at the moment, I do not want to end up in a situation where I end up selling it cuz I can't afford it.
