Engine tech question for tuners.
I will be working on my engine in the next 6 months or so. My goal is a streetable, autoX and track race car. (i.e. no drag racing). I will have suspension + safety mods done before the engine setup, so no preaching please.
What I want to know is if the following combos would be safe and reliable to use:
Combo 1:
1. Mugen ECU or Chipped ECU to rev to 9,100 rpm
2. Mugen Valve spring
3. JDM 2.5" header + cat + exhaust
4. No V-AFC, no FPR
Combo 2.
1. Stock ECU
2. Toda valve springs. (Are Ti retainers necessary?)
2. Toda spec A.
3. JDM OE header, cat, exhaust
4. Do I need balanced pistons? (i.e. Spoon, etc?)
5. V-AFC, FPR
Combo 3.
1. Mugen or Chipped ECU to rev to 9,100rpm
2. Toda Spec A
3. Toda or Mugen valve springs (Ti retainers?)
4. 2.5" plumbing
5. Balanced Pistons?
6. V-AFC, FPR
My main concern is 100% reliability. I don't care about max HP. I prefer a setup that does not require frequent tune up.

Jack - is it "bad" to rev to 9,100 rpm? Is Mugen blowing smoke when they say 9,100 rpm w/ Mugen ECU w/ stock internals? Or, is it just not cost effective and not reliable? Thanks.
