ITR Purchase Advice
Hey guys,
I planning to buy a Integra Type R.
INFO
Year: 2001
Location: Park Acura (Ohio)
Miles: 15,416
Color: Phoenix Yellow
Price: $23,995
Condition: Excellent Condition, used as a car show and always garage kept. It comes with after-market exhaust (unknown brand), intake (unknown brand), carbon fiber hood (unknown brand) and 15' Rota SS wheels. The stock wheels and stock come with the car also. Other than the bolt-ons that I mentioned, the car hasn't been modified any further (from what they told me).
Please, feel free to post any advice or concerns about this post. Thanks

So where can I get a new one?
That was then, this is now!
See if you can talk them down a bit, otherwise ... go for it.

Talk him down a little? Better be like $4K minimum. I mean the car is great and all but not worth the price they're asking.
For that much I'd go for one of those uber popular bandwagon get-'em-on rallyio Kaa's.

Thanks guys for your opinion.
I just forgot to metion a big factor of the purchase.
My 2000 Honda Civic was stolen on 2/6/04. After all the paper work and hassles with the insurance company, I end up with my loan paid and $7,500 in my pocket from insurance money towards another car.
So, if you minus $7,500 from $23,995, I would be paying/financing $16,500.

keep looking, you could find one 1 around 18k.
if look hard enough 98 goes for about 13-15k
edit: never mind, i guess if you put it that way then i would buy it. but try to talk the stealership down a bit, maybe 20k or 23k out the door

lol. Saw that one up in Akron. There's also a private owner ITR for sale in the Dayton area for $22.5 w/30K on it
And the local Acura dealer (Superior) has an ITR for $24,300. Don't ask me how they came up with such a random price.
Crazy money for a used Civic, I mean Type R.

from the way you wrote this, i can feel your enthusiasm over the car. taking into account that your si was stolen and you probably feel bad about it, i'd say to go ahead and buy it. its only money and you live only once, treat yourself
she sounds like a beauty, and i feel that the regret in NOT buying the car would be worse than the regret you'd feel later on knowing that you might have spent a thousand bucks or more than the next guy...so what, atleast you'll be a happy itr owner with a clean one.
just try your best to NOT let the dealership know your true feelings about the car. have them try and "sell" it to you, rather than you try and "Buy" it from them.
its great that you found honda-tech, just do us all a favor and learn your lesson from the Si. use your head and don't get it stolen. the breed is getting smaller by the minute it seems sometimes

Whats the catch?
Why exactly must you buy a car from this particular dealer again?
And still too much...

but i think this is illegal is some way. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Uhh, yeah I would investigate this.
It's almost as if the insurance company is giving a kickback to the dealership after they just paid up an owed amount or loan.
This does sound shady.
I would go so far as to say, if you have the money, contact your insurance claims official and tell them you no longer care to own that particular car or even any car that the dealership sells. Tell then you are looking elsewhere and see what they say. If they say they will cancel have them send you everything in writing explaining why. If they still insist, then maybe you Should look for another insurance company.
I'd get my way but, I'm a total ***** when it comes to business.

or look for another R and tell your agent you don't see any reasons why you should pay more because you have to buy where they tell you to buy.
but again time is not exactly on your side here. if you wait anylonger that R might not be there and the ins. might cancel the check. how much total did you get? amount of loan paid+the cash to buy another car.
