Default I broke the Miata records yesterday. 10.94@139mph. Not a Honda but still...

Today was my first time out to the track in my Miata with my new setup. I got several issues solved and the car was running well. I made a total of 3 passes today. I started with 5psi and went 13.00@109mph. I upped it to 15psi and it went 11.73@117mph. Then pumped the boost up to the 28psi range and I went 10.94@139mph. My 60ft was only a 1.865, it could have been better but I just need seat time. I did cut a 1.7 on the 11 second pass but I should be in the 1.6 range at least. I wasn't able to run anymore after I made the 10 second pass due to lack of safety equipment. I need a 8 point cage instead of my 5 point bar and a firejacket. I drove the car 30 miles to the track on my 225 BFG drag radials, made the pass, then drove her back home another 30 miles with no problems. Yes, I know the burnout was weak but I was focusing on getting the boost controller dialed in and after this pass they wouldn't let me run anymore. The track here in Albuquerque is at 5500 ft and we had a density altitude of 6800 yesterday.

The previous top Miata ET was 10.98@125 and the top mph was 11.2@131mph.
Here is the list. http://www.wwtfd.org/~bigdmiata/fastest.php

I lurk around here on H-T to get tips/info because you guys are the pace setters for the import scene. I figured I would share what I have done with ya folks as a thank you for the information you all have given me. Thanks to Art for the turbo!

I need some more safety stuff and then I will be back out there even faster and possibly on slicks this time.

Marc has been side by side with me throughout this build up on his car(from the other side of the country ). It has been a team effort to get out drivetrains setup. I am sure he will put pressure back on me soon.

Spooler.. As I mentioned on Miataforum, I'm very happy that you did it, but I will be back harder..

Many will tell you that I planned on retiring my car and just street driving it in 2004 as I was unable to find a class I truely enjoy.. Well I don't plan on retiring it any more.. After I heard your time I went in the garage and sat in my Miata with a pen and paper and wrote down everything I needed/wanted for the car. I will play around with a bone stock motor here in Canada for the first half and will probably install my new motor when I am ready to venture state side..

I'm very glad the RX7 Tranny worked... I tested mine this weekend in 1st and 2nd in my driveway and all is good. One of my main concerns is gearing.. You are using a Ford 8.8 rear with a 3.73, I picked a Mazda RX7 TurboII 8" diff with a 4.10. I think your gearset is gonna work better. With my old 4.10 7" Diff I was clicking into 5th.

I know I probably should of used a Ford 8.8 also, but I have been a stickler about keeping my stuff all Mazda.. Hell, I did not even want to add the RX7 stuff to the car and ran all last year with a 100% Miata Drivetrain, but that cost me 7-10 trannies and some axles.

Now if you an I could only find a class to which we are competitive in... Do you plan on adding an 8 point to your car?? I dunno.. I think that might be were I draw the line... A street convertible with a full cage!! YUK!!!

Again.. Spooler.. You are da Man!!! What gas are you using C16??

****, I just noticed that I run the first 660ft quicker.. Just gotta get the top end going better! I think that could be when the gearing is taking over!!

Yeah, I am using C16. I didn't hook at all that run. It should have been a mid 10 second pass if it hooked but that was it for the day. The power into 3rd gear is what took it into the 10's because the launch sure was weak. I guess I will have to put the 8 point cage in to go back to the track. I will just leave the hardtop on anyway, because I agree that it wouldn't look all that great but....safety first.

Art, you can't have it back! I am going to get a cage in there and put some slicks on. Does anyone use the M&H's on RWD? I just see them talked about here with the FWD guys.

Who cares if it's a Honda board. This is the Drag Racing forum so most of us like drag racing. I post threads about muscle car events all the time

Bad *** run mang! Hope to see you pulling even faster times next time out.

That's what hardtops are made for.

Great job to both you guys!

I dunno about a hard top.. I don't own one, but I know they do help in the 1320 as I once borrowed one and found it helped even though it add weight!

I guess I will have to keep my MPH at 134.99 and then I will be fine with my 6 point cage. I should be able to get a solid 10 at 134.99mph. Just defeats the purpose of a convertible when I am cruising with the roof down, but have a full cage..

We shall see... I swore that 200hp was enough a few years ago, last year I had 463 and I expect 500+ this year! This **** is worse than crack!

Yeah I redligted. :-S I was using BFG's not Nitto's. I am gonna just try to get a NHRA 10 point in there to get the car safe and ready for the possibility of single digits.
