Default HELP! I ran a 9.98 1/8 mile And I dont know why. :-(

Okay, someone hep meh out plz...
LS/ VTEC 11.1:1 compression,
JE pistons/Eagle H-beams,
Frankentranny: LS 1,2 ITR 3,4,5 4.4 Final Drive,
b16 head itr valvesprings/retainers, stock b16a1 cams,
RC 310cc injectors, Skunk2 ECU (vtec @ 4800)

60' : 2.3
1/8 mile: 9.98
MPH: 72.3

Anybody got a clue? I have cams SUPPOSEDLY on the way (skunk2 stage2) I already have portflow valvesprings for them...
Someone said it's probably running rich, I have no way to tune them... stock Fuel pressure, and the skunk2 chip prolly runs rich not to mention the 310s prolly too much fuel.

Let me know what u think...

You should try to lower that 60ft. time. If you can, get your car on a dyno and get it tuned, otherwise all that money you spent on that motor will be wasted.

cool... I took it to an alignment shop because it's like... VISUALLY u can see it toes out like this: \ / But they said that was "As close as we can get it"

Maybe I need to try a different place. :-/

Also, wheel hop is INSANE on a good solid launch... So much that like... if I had a CD player, it wouldn't skip it would throw it out the window. lol.
And I had a buddy drive it (dirtyd463) and I was watching the car, the wheels move forward-backward slightly when they are hopping... is that normal? It's not big, but still... Maybe I need to tighten the radius rods?

Thanks.

Your trap speed and ET match up.

Summary: You aren't making the power you're expecting.

mkay... bought stock injectors today, they went in... Put on a 64mm throttle body as well... Should get cams t/m or next day... That may be my problem... Hopefully it is anyways. Anybody else know WHY this thing's slow after all this work? lol.

Get on a dyno. Perhaps it's something as simple as a horrid AFR.

Cool... I'm still hoping its my cams... But u may be right it's a p28 with a "skunk2" chip in it.
Vtec at 4800, no revlimiter (I found fuel cut yesterday though... somewhere around 10-11... damn throttlebody stuck open... thank god I shut it off when the tach went past 9. :-( pooooor little Integra. lol.

Anyhoo, any thoughts? I've heard a few times that b16a1 cams are terrible even in a stock b16 much less built LS/VTEC high compression.

thanks,

Ratliff

what kind of car is your motor in?

i've also got a ls/vtec with way fewer mods than you and i ran a 9.7 in a 00 coupe.
i really need some slicks thoguh because i kept spinning the whole way through 1st.

That is really bad. Something in your motor is not making the power it should. I've seen bolt on LS motors run better times. I wouldn't keep buying parts looking for a magic solution I would figure out what is wrong with the current setup and work on it from there. Just for comparison my full interior 92 Integra GSR with intake only ran 9.7's.

I dont understand what COULD be wrong with it though... I mean... Could tuning be so bad that it runs and pulls fine and all, just that incredibly slow? lol

Is the timing right? Who built the motor? Could be something simple..

for the wheel hop, replace your front and rear engine mount bushings with poly urathen ones, and lower your 60ft

thats horrible, I ran faster with my 1.5L w/ basically bolt ons
theres something seriously wrong if your running same times as a 100hp car with that motor. An alignment would be good but 2.3 isnt too bad especailly with the wheelhop you described, the 60 ft. definately isn't were your main problem is.
What tranny are youusing?
Hit up the dyno and try a little tuning when you get your motor together, should make a world of difference because you have the parts to pull way better times.

what ever you do dont buy anything like another member said. Your Trap is matching your time so the car is not making the power. My LS with simple bolt ons ran a 9.8 at 71mph and that is with a full interior with A/C, P/S Integra RS. Dont waste your money on the dyno yet, figure out whats the problem you can figure alot of it out with just the trap speed once your satified with it then tune it.

wheel hop can hinder your 60ft times so the poly inserts would help a little bit

another reason why you probably have bad times is b/c your driving is not so good

Yes but if his driving was bad his MPH would still reflect a faster car with a slower time which it doesn't. That car with those mods should be in the low 9's in the 1/8th which poly inserts won't help you do.

okay... what about this... what if my alignment is like... SEVERELY off... we're talking not a couple degrees of toe, like... 10. lol. U can make one wheel straight and look at the other and see like 1/3 of the tread pointing in the opposite direction. U think that would overall make the car that much slower?

and as far as tranny goes, it's LS 1st and 2nd, (which had the same number of teeth on the gears as the type R for some reason... so maybe it was a G2 GSR YS1) And ITR 3,4,5 and ITR Final Drive (4.4)

The alignment would hinder you from getting better times, but its not the times that should concern you its you Trap speed. From your speed is were you would know if the car is making power to run X amount of time. And as far as your tranny goes i dont see nothing wrong with it, I did my time in a full ls tranny open diff.

ok I'm off to shoot ignition timing but I know that's not gonna cause a massive decrease like that...

What about plugs/wires??? They're denso autozone cheapies and cheap APC wires... (long story) could that be it? Gapped to .040

ignition timing was 4 degrees retarded.

Still I dont think that's enough to make up for that much time... but maybe a bit??? :-/
