Default Trans feels notchy

My shifter feels notchy, almost over night, worse then my friends Fox body mustang of the past. The shifter has been very fluent in motion until today. It feels like its going to break in my hand. The car still engages every gear OK and takes off smoothly but the notchy feeling has me worried.

Plans to change the trans fluid tomorrow have already been set but what else might I want to take a look at. Perhaps the shifter bushing could be shot but over night? Maybe it is ES shifter bushing time? The trans has 90k miles, and still on the stock clutch. Any help in a positive manner would be appreciated.

TIA.

30k or so

The problem "feels" like it is in the shifter itself. Back to back motion just feels notchy. It engages the clutch fine and smooth, which I thought was solely responsible by fresh MTF fluid.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Check the linkage and see if everything is still tight and not bent.

I say do the MTF change and go from there...

How does the clutch disk have to do with any feel through the shifter? The clutch pedal feels smooth and like I said, the car engages nicely still.

Change your tranny fluid and inspect shift linkage/shifter bushings. I can tell you Mugen shifter bushings feel very nice..

I am happy to report back that with fresh Honda MTF fluid and spraying the linkage with some white grease, everything is A OK.

While doing so, a new neighbor stopped by that drives with the WindyCity BMW club.

To fixing my car and meeting cool people

Most "notchy" or grinding problems in trannies are due to lack of proper maintenance...i.e. Tranny fluids. Change it more than the 30k recommended interval IMO. 20k sounds better.
