Stinky Air
I park my car outside and lately, I've been noticing unless I turn the A/C on, there is some bunk smell coming from the vents. Whats a good way to get rid of that putrid odor?
it's porbably mildew or mold in your ducts.......try this.
turn your vent system on and spray lysol (yes lysol because it KILLS the mildew) from the outside, you know where the air ducts are infront of the windshield.....spray profusely .....
That should eventually get it....
Often times leaves or somthing (dont even wanna guess) dies in there and starts to rot and what not.......or from the inside somehow food got into the vents and started to once again decompose thus causing the infection
edit- here i dug up a link for you for more info, hope this helps

here is a suggestion:
Before you turn off your car, turn off the AC at least 5 minutes before. But keep the fan on HI. This will prevent this problem from coming back. It dries up the condensation on the evaporator.

i know a fren that works a benz dealer and they have this cleaner, its like a foam and you spray it into your vents and it goes through all of it and takes the smell away. i dont know what its called but its suppose to work really well. i'll try to get the name of it cause they prolly sell it over the counter.
thx for the info!
i heard about using lysol to rectify the smell but i wasn't 100% sure ... i'm hosing the vents down with lysol first thing tomorrow!

I solved my stinky air problem by taking off the glove box, then taking off the blower, and sticking a can of lysol up into the hole where the blower was, and soaking the evaporator with lysol untill it started to drip out from under the car, where the condensed water usually drips out. my car smelled like lysol for a week or two, but it hasnt smelled since, and i did this about a year and a half ago.
