gsr/type r cluster in a LS?
I was thinking about putting a gsr or a type r cluster in my 96 ls so when i put my cams and etc. that i will have the higher red line...and was wondering if they would plug up to my ls wiring or not... if any body has tried this or not. thanks for the info.

If you put two gauges, GSR/Type-R and LS, side by side with each other, the rpms don't match up. So how would this be accurate?

it will still be very accurate. the cluster regulates the needle. If the ECU is saying it is reving to 6000rpm the cluster is going to move the needle to 6000rpm. I have an ITR in my car and it is very accurate.

wow are you serious... he's replacing the CLUSTER not the gauge faces.. the electronic gauge is what determines where to put the needle, not the ECU. all the ECU's send the same signal to the cluster. the cluster knows where to put the needles for the gauge face they were designed for

how will it be plug and play if one cluster is ODBI and the other could be ODBII?
Be mindful of the year of the cluster and the wiring.
if you dont care, who needs a working a gas and speedometer when youre just focused on looking good in park

I actually have a 94 GSR cluster in my 98 LS. Plugs in perfectly, BUT it seems as if some of the wiring has changed over the years. My seatbelt light is always on, and the SRS light takes place of the seatbelt i.e.-- it turns off when the seatbelt is on. I had a afc and it always matched up to the Cluster, arounder higher rpm's, it was slightly off 100-200 rpms, but thats a usuall occurance w/ stock clusters. So all in all it works good, just hard to get used to the different redline.
OH, also-- the gas needle when STRAIGHT down to past E when I turned over the car--- not sure if it was from me having no gas in my car, and it over compensated and is stuck? who knows.

thats nice - if i were to get a cluster i would get either that jdm or i would get an after market and have it float above my current tac so i could have the high rpms and a shift light
