I've traded my long time daily ride (89 3rd gen w/carbs) for a 2000 type SH. BIG STEP UP ! However, there is one thing that I need to resolve. The shift pattern in my new car is all over the place. I can literally move the shift **** 4 inches (forth and aft) when in gear !! Careful shifting is not a problem but this is ridiculous. My '89 is still tight. You'd have to be dreaming to miss a shift. I can't even find neutral half the time in this car. Admittedly, I haven't pulled up the boot to look nor have I looked in a book to see what I'm dealing with.

My question to the group... is this a feature or a defect? I can't believe the folks at Honda would build such a precision car and let the shift pattern float like this. I'd appreciate your input.

 

i think it's something wrong with your SH, it isn't supposed to be like that

 

that could be a possible defect, but im not sure. I have a 97 SH and mine is nice and tight with very little play while in gear.

 

Thanks Guys for your input. I honestly think something is just loose and need to be tightened. Do you happen to know anyone in this forum that could answer technical questions about this problem?

 

I'd take it back to the dealership and have them fix it for you, thats if you have warranty on it....
