http://www.team-integra.net has an article on how you can take all the tint off...
for the rear tint:
remove the rear plastic trim - 3 pieces
cutout a template of the rear window using a black trashbag
park the car so the sun is shining on the rear window
spraydown the tint with simplegreen or ammonia
cover with trashbag - keeps it from drying
leave it on for about 30mins - the longer the better
use razor blade to get a portion of tint to lift off the glass
peel back slowly - it should come off in huge pieces
becareful not to let the tint touch the glass once you peel it off. it will stick again and tear

I had all kinds of fun taking some old purple tint off today. It was very tough. I used newspaper soaked with ammonia to soak it off. But at least I had a razor scraper with a good blade on it. I once saw a product made specifically for removing old tint glue. It may be available where detailing products are sold. Fine steel wool can be used to get glue off around the defroster lines. Make sure you test the steel wool to make sure it dosen't scratch the glass, the heavy steel wool will scratch. Have fun.
hate to bring back an old thread, but I'm taking my tint off today and I needed some ideas... sad to see the mis-information in these threads
There can be many ways to take off the tint on the back window, however, if you go to a shop and watch or know someone that does it professionally, you'll see what they do (and it has nothing to do with brake fluid
) Steam cleaner. That's it. Just steam clean the tint and it peels right off...glue and all. So if you happen to have one you are in luck
. Unfortunately, most of us like me don't own one, so we have to find another way. I'm going to try to do it with a blowdryer, amonia, goo gone, and a razor blade today. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Do you think this is worth a DIY thread? I have my camera right here and it wouldnt be any trouble for me.
