Default jdm b16a into 97 civic ex Please help!

Ok I have a 97 civic ex and I threw a rod. I am looking to do a b-series swap.
I found a JDM b16a (2nd generation). My question, after reading the Swap Articles @ hondaswap.com, is why is the b16a2 the better swap for a 6th gen (96-00) civic? The b16a2 is obd1 and the 6th gen civic is obd2; Right? And would the JDM b16a (2nd gen) swapped from: JDM Honda 92-95 civic SiR2, 93-95 Del Sol VTEC, be considered a B16A2 as the JDM motor is OBD1, as said by Totaljdm.com?

Also Totaljdm.com says all I will need is a wiring harness (I guess different from the one included in the swap) and it should be a completely bolt-in swap. What do you think?

Is it worth $2,500 b/4 install? Other swaps for around the same price?

This can be a little confusing for newbs, but there are OBD1 & OBD2 US "B16A2" engines. All JDM B16A engines only read "B16A" on the engine ID stamp, there's no numbers following it like US engines do, such as "B16A2" or "B16A3". You can use any US 96-00 OBD2 "B16A2" (Delsol or Si coupe) engine in your EX, which is suggested. Or you can use any 96+ JDM OBD2 "B16A" engine but with the JDM B16 ecu or convert to OBD1; but you cannot use a US OBD2 ecu on a JDM B16A engine unless you put a US oilpump on the JDM B16 engine because of the CKF sensor. Further confused?

If you try using an OBD1 engine, you'll have to fumble around with the distributor plug, injector plugs, and alternator plugs and you'll have to do something about the oil pump if you plan to use a US OBD2 B16 ecu =

rule of thumb is that you wanna stick with an OBD2 engine, if your car is OBD2 spec so the swap will be performed almost seamlessly and headache free.

Now, if you wind up getting an OBD2 engine (like you should), your EX engine harness is the best harness to use on the engine, as it has VTEC & the knock sensor already pre-wired into it. If you have an AUTO EX engine harness, thats another story and headache, but if its a 5speed harness, your set.
