5th Gen Handling Problem
I've recently been having problems with the way my Accord handles. The car is a '97 DX with 147k miles, and i've had it for 3 years. After 3 years, i've developed a sense of predicting how my car will act at certain speeds. Recently, i've lost this sense.
At higher speeds (especially on the highway) I get nervous about what might happen if i hit a dip in the road. Not long ago, I was on a long, twisty stretch of road and going around a corner at my usual speed (50, speed limit is 45), I lost control of the car after hitting a rough spot and nearly spun the car.
The whole suspension is stock, 147k miles old, and I think the struts/shocks/springs might be shot, or are coming close. The steering is VERY light, requiring much less effort to take a corner than normal. Could anyone help me on figuring out what exactly is wrong with my car? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks guys

I would say your shocks/springs and bushings for your sway bars are probably wearing down. Are you planning on lowering it at all or is this your daily driver?
It would be cheaper and probably beneficial to replace with aftermarket stuff and get a eibach prokit (lower it slighty) and replace with some stiffer shocks. Replace the bushings for your sway bars and see how it is

This won't be my daily driver for long. I have $500 left to pay on it and then I'll be giving it to my brother when I get my new car in June or July

check out to see if OEM or aftermarket struts and springs would cost you. whichever is cheaper, go for it
unless you look at no name brands then dont even think about it and just go OEM. so basically look at OEM equipment prices and reputable name brand prices and whichever sounds better, go for it

Thanks a lot guys. So it's more than likely the struts, shocks, and springs as I thought?
Also, sometimes at when I make a turn at very low speeds (ie: Stop at a stop sign and then go through) there's a low sounding grinding noise. A friend said it's probably the CV joints, but I don't see how they'd be messed up when we had them replaced about a year ago.

before you decide to replace anything you might want to jack up the car and do some tests and just look around at the suspension components. the cv joints should be fine but, but anything can happen. go ahead and take a look at em and see what you find.
