URGENT, thrown Rod?? please help
Hey guys, my sister is looking at ITR but the guy says it has a thrown rod and i needed to find out some info before we can make a decision.
well first of all, do any of you guys know what might cause a thrown rod?
if that is really the problem, would that be costly to repair? the repair would just be replacing the rods? the guy said one rod but if they are replaceable to fix the problem, i would go ahead and replace all four.
Also, i think that worse case sanerio is that I would have to replace the block? is that really expesnive or managable?
do you guys know of any other side effects and problems that are caused from a thrown rod even after fixing it?
thanks in advance guys.

The engine is still in the car, never been taken out or anything, so i'm not really sure. According to the guy selling it, he says it's only one rod that's messed up, but then again he's selling it so he could just be saying that to sell it.
Thrown rod? Did you ask how it got a thrown rod? You will need a new motor for sure. You may be able to salvage the head but I don't know. The guy likely missed a shift or something and revved it to 18k a blew the motor. My buddy missed 4th and hit 2nd on the highway once. Threw the rod completely out of the block! Not good. You can always drop a JDM b18-R in her. Forget about trying to fix it, not worth the cash to tear into unless you are the one doing it yourself. When a rod goes, it will usually destroy the cylinder wall before it punches itself literally out of the block. Good luck

are you talking to yourself???
And no...max would be nothing is salvageable. Who says the piston didn't go flying up into the CC and cause horrible damage to the head also...never know till you tear it down

quit trying to convince yourself the head is fine, your gonna buy it and then be surprised when you need a new engine and feel like a sucker. Just assume it needs a new engine and look at it.
