Fenders in STS
While driving my car on the streets between events I get fender rubbing on one rear fender. Within the STS rules can I only roll in the inner lip? I could always raise the rear suspension but I have seen other tegs lowered more then mine without getting rubbing, so what else can I do to prevent this rubbing?

I don't know how much lower the ride height is from stock but I can raise or lower 1.5" if I want. The offset is debatable but from most people I have heard that a 38 offset on a GSR should work.

You can use spacers to make the offset less, but the only way to increase the offset will involve precision milling of some metal. Not the best idea.
Alternatively, you could just put in stupid amounts of negative camber. With the tops of the wheels tipped in further, you will clear the fender wells.
5 or 6 degrees would make your car "HeLLa tIgHt!"

Well, CRAP
. I spent hours looking into what offset to get. Tire Rack and other racers I know all said 38 so I got 38. I guess I might just brake down and raise the rear suspension 1/4 inch or so rather then buying a new set of rims.
I forgot to add, I'm just getting rubbing on one side but both sides are lowered equaly. So half my car tells me 38 is okay and the other half tells me otherwise

Put those wheels on ebay and get the 45mm offset if you want to have the correct setup.
You could add another bumpstop. ;-)
I also had some fender rubbing problems, and was short on cash at the time. So, in search of an effective "ghetto style" solution, I bought a pair of bump stops at the dealership for about $7, slipped them onto the shocks, and that cured the problem. I was pretty concerned about what the added stops would do to my handling, potentially creating a seriously progressive rate "spring". But, I really didn't have any problems at all, even on my Hoosiers. BTW, there are "front" and "rear" bumpstops. The only difference is that the material on the rear stops is a bit softer than the fronts.

Umm... are you SURE the stock GS-R offset is 50mm? I had 38mm offset on my RS and never had a rubbing problem on the track when the wheels would get pushed up into the fenders.
all right, I just went out and took off the hub caps on my stock 1996 GS-R wheels, and lo and behold, the stock offset, as indicated on the rim, is 45mm.
so there.

I think I'm going to try rolling the fender lip and raising the suspension before I even think about buying new rims. If I did go with the 45 offset I think the 7" wide tires would rub on the inside as I have seen with other cars.
No, they won't. I have 15x7 45mm Koseis on my R with 225/50/15 slicks and I get *no* inside rubbing at all, and those slicks are a lot wider and taller than a 205/50/15 tire.
And the wheel protruding rule was thrown out of STS/STR? Cool. So I can get those 13x7.5 rims that I have been eyeing.

The R is 50mm, but then again I believe the wheelbase is a tad wider on the R.
