boost with hondata on h22
I have a turboed jdm h22 in my 93 civic hb. I just bought the greddy profec b. I am gonna be getting hondata soon. My internals are stock. I heard I can boost about 12 all day long, as long as its tuned right on the hondata. Anyone have any input or experience with it.
no way. that's way too much for stock internals, especially with our wonderful FRM sleeves. Without a sleeve job and possibly con rods, I wouldn't push it past 8psi.
12 is pushing it even with good tuning, do a little searching, there are plenty post that debate this. should used a b series, they take much better to boost on stock internals
my brother's been boosting around 11 psi for quite some time now on stock internals. He's busted a few axles because of the slicks, but the engine has held up just fine. Even when the one dealership replaced the axle and pinched his MF2 wires between the chassis and the tranny causing his turbo to glow red a while later the internals still held up. He just had it send to tempest to get it built up for more boost and such, but never had an issue with 11 psi only using an MF2 for "management"
well since we cant exactly get the best tuners for our cars...except for the ones that live near the aforementioned people, I suggest the Hondata and 10psi max
also, dont forget...the more boost on that high compression motor, the more likely your prone to detonation
the CR on the JDM h22 is a bit way too much for a turbo motor

Hmm thanks for the info guys. Tony posted for me. Yaa I think I am going to buy some lower compression pistons and rods At the stock bore. I am also going to get springs valves and retainers. Ill put that stuff in and hopefull it will be safe and strong for the higher boost. Any other input guys? Thanks.

Do a search.....this question has been answered all the time, and I post in every one......
H series and B series can both take around 10-12psi on good pump and ~14-16 on high octane (C16) stock internals. Tuning is the key. If you wanna run aftermarket pistons on an H series, you need to sleeve. Ringlands break because of *detonation* or too much power, not because of the amount of boost you're running. Too much power for stock internals (on an H22) is ~400 whp, and I chose that number because it's halfway between what I make and what that H22 on AEM made before putting a rod through the block

i've been reading up for sometime now because i am about ready to turbo my h22 hatch
i also read that not all h22 blocks have the frm sleves
i heard the closed deck blocks had regular sleeves
is this true?

Alright guys I took some of your advice. A friend of mine had a sleeved USDM h22a4. It is bored out to 89 mm. It has 9:1 compression pistons and rods. I bought it off him. He is a well respected machanic who knows his stuff. He had it in his accord. It is well maintained and low mileage. All I am waiting for now is my six puck clutch, a head gasket, my Hondata and a drive shaft for the h22a4. I ordered the stuff like a week ago so hopefully they will come and my car will be done this week.
