Turbocharging 91 Accord
Hey guys, i got a turbokit for real cheap since im friends with the owner of a versus store, since hes gonnah elp me install it on his spare time and all, whats a safe boost amount. i have a performance cam, and pulleys, and exhaust if that matters, and its automatic. anyone know what my 1/4 mile times might be i was thinkin like high 14s?? not sure
not to mention how many miles are on the engine? if it has a lot of miles on it you might want to reconsider turboing it. high mileage + turbo = boom. 1/4 mile times are considered upon weight of your car, how much boost you run, how well tuned you are, what kind of tires you use, ALL sorts of things. 14's will be doable easily tho, as long as you are not a horrid driver. good luck on ur turbo setup
Well from what he has said it does not look like his car is gonna like boost. It is a 91 probably never rebuilt automatic and has an unspecified cam. But he did say he got the kit for cheap so maybe the saved money could go to a manual swap or a newer f22 for a build up.
its an AEM cam, and im going to be getting an integra GSR 5spd or a prelude 5spd if i can get hooked up on that as well, the tranny hasnt been rebuilt but i was going to convert to 5spd in the near future
Before you turbo your car think about the tranny. Honda auto's cant handle a power gain like that very well and will probably go out in a couple weeks. I would price the 5sp conversion and add that on.
