towing a trailer behind civic?
I want to put a hitch on my car and pull a 150 lb trailer with a 650 lb quad on it. Do you think this would be ok?
The car is a 90 civic dx 5 speed.

maybe just need to hit the gears higher. I'm not sure but i would try. I towed my friends crx with the tow line b4 when he blew his motor up a hill. No problems
I towed an 8ft uhaul from Philly to Chicago behind my 92 hatch. I'm not sure if it was the same weight as yours but I made it. Poor car made some aweful noises during the trip (chassis wise), but it seems to have come out unscathed.
They make a Class 1 hitch for our cars... You can haul up to a 200 pound tongue weight, and I think up to 2000 pounds...
Here's a link to one...

I wouldn't mind pullin a jet ski sometime in the future, maybe the 160 hp turbo honda?
(jet ski that is)
Slap on a hidden hitch and give the B some more power and amaze people at boat ramps.
Now to find a boat ramp that wouldn't sink my car, or get it stuck.
The owners manual doesn't suggest you tow something though, but who cares, those are just "suggestions"

You'll be fine, there is a guy that runs SCCA that pulls his track CRX with his civic, if he can do that a quad would be a walk in the park beside people pull motorcycles and jet skis with lesser cars

I have a CRX hf with a hitch and i towed my CBR929 on a 2000 mile round trip with no problems up and over the Misissippi river bridge which is very high with no problems. That was before i did my swap and was pushing 62hp
It's no problem. I did it for years with my 91 DX hatch. Towed an 800lb teardrop trailer all up and down the west coast and over the Sierra Nevadas a few times. Never had an overheating problem and never found a hill I couldn't pull.
It does wear the clutch a bit more moving from a stop. When mine went at 150,000 miles I put an ACT clutch in it. Probably overkill. Pretty major increase in peddle effort.
If you don't already have a hitch, I highly recommend getting one installed at U-haul. I really hate to give them the business because renting stuff from them is such a PITA, but they REALLY know their **** about installing hitches. It's a much bigger hassle that I thought it was. They have some very trick tools (chassis drills and bolt locators) that are totally unique to the hitch installation process and really speed things up. I will never install another hitch as long as I live after seeing the way they do it. Although I don't remember the total cost for hitch and installation, I do remember thinking it was a real bargain. I guess they figure if they sell you a hitch for cheap, they can rape you in the rental charges forever after...

hmm, now that i think about it. it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a hitch. moving in and out of dorms is gonna be a thing I do for the next few years ,and well, hopefully I won't always have to bum a friend to bring a suburban up to help move me out...I wonder about how much a hidden hitch runs?
According to that link I posted, about $85 before shipping, and detailed install instructions are included, OR you cna go to U-Haul, and buy a hitch + installation for closer to $200.
my friend has an integra and he pulls a trailer with a quad behind it. and he pulls a jetski with it too. if it doesnt pull enough get some nitrous or supercharger
when i got my hatch it had a trailer hitch on it. the guys said he used it to drive it to the track with two dirt bikes on a trailer. he said it did alright pulling it. and he never had any problems.
If your in NorCal I can do it with my Tacoma, other then you don't wan to chance pulling anything out from under your car lol. I wouldn't chance pulling **** from a honda. I would go to uhaul and rent one of their trucks.

The previous owner of my 90 Civic Si had a boosted z6 in it. When his friend's b-series CRX blew the **** up at the track, he towed it 300 miles back home, with no problems at all. It had a CF DF clutch in it.
