vafc or hondata?
well i was going to get the hondata but the guy said that it won't do so much for N/A cars and a vafc would be better? hondata more for FI cars?
i don't know what to do now...
my setup will be
aem v2
greddy header
crower stg 2 cams w/ stock idle lobes
aem cam gears
aem pulleys
custom 2.25" w/ test pipe only for the track
msd 6a + ngk wires + bosch +4 platinum plugs + blaster ss coil

Yeah its not going to do as much for your N/A car as it will for that big boost setup but it will still add horsepower to a completely stock motor. I say hondata all the way
theres nothing wrong with running hondata with that setup. should make more power than with a vafc

the hondata opens up more tuning options with the ability to adjust the timing. If hondata is available and easily accesible (I.E. you don't have to drive four hours to get it tuned, like i would.
), then go with hondata.
It may only gain a few whp over the vafc but the costs are similar, unless you get a used vafc. Also if you plan on doing an engine build, you may have to replace the vafc if you need more tuning. With a hondata you won't, it should be more than enough to tune your car.

well the tuner around here says ill be getting 5whp max if he tunes it in 5 HOURS!!
that is over 500$ and for only 5whp?
i don't know....is he lying or is he just a bad tuner?
lol and i really don't mind driving to wherever there is a good tuner...
can you name some really good tuners and tell me where they are located?
howz prostreet?

Hondata has many more features than a vafc AND fully featured readout with hours of datalogging (limited by space on your laptop)
Any that guy wanting $500 to tune it and he'd take over 5 hours, and thinks he could only get 5hp, I agree he sounds like a moron.
I'd guess with a good tuner youd spend 1-3hour max and would guess you would gain a great deal more hp.
As for it taking 5hours!, sounds like the guy doesnt know what hes doing, When you tune hondata you have 20 rows of rpm points in the range to tune on the low cam and 24 on the high cam, when youve doing the fuelling for both hi and low cam you select a column down the rev scale and use a funtion called 'Interpolate' which fills the figures in between each listed RPM row.
This Interpolate function was added to speed up the tuning process, most other FMUs for example 'Alpha engine management' have individual 100rpm intervals (which does take more time to tune).
The only thing that takes lots of time on the Hondata is playing with the timing to make the engine feel more responsive whilst comparing with the dyno printout
I'd personally avoid letting this guy touch your car.

I dont mean to jack this thread at all, but If one would plan on going turbo... would yall suggest a hondata or AEM EMS? thanks!
and by the way... go slap that guy in the face... I love it when car "professionals" try to pray on others with ultra high rates and **** like that...
