Default Anyone try running bone stock b20/vtec (bottom end)?

I'm currently putting together a b20/vtec but low funds so i was wondering if anyone had a bone stock b20/vtec build and still pulled strong?

A friend of mine did that last year for a quick cheap setup, it was composed of a stock bottom end B20Z with a stock P72 cylinder head and ITR cams. In his full interior EJ6 on MT 20x6x14 slicks he did a 12.8@106 which isn't anything special but not bad for the setup.

they will unless Stevie Wonder builds your longblock. I wouldn't take mine around 9 or anything (even with a built head), but 8 no problem.

Seriously out of all of our NA CRVTEC's ranging from 11.0-12.5:1 we've never had any problem with stock rods/bolts. That isn't to say that stuff can't happen but most of these motors go to ~8500rpm with absolutely no problems. My friend that I was talking about earlier just blew his motor the other day because he missed a gear with no rev limiter and dropped a valve at 10K (completely stock bottom end too). Snapped the face off the valve and shoved it through the piston. He did it once before but the valve didn't snap and all it took was swapping heads. These problems were all valvetrain related tho.

In our DA strret car we are using a stock bore oem sleeve b20 block with 13.5:1 compression with a 93 GSR head. other parts too but this set up ran 12.6 with 2.0 60' N/A and it is driven every day. I could go into more detail if you need me to, let me know.

Very good combination despite what people had told me about the swap. I have had for almost 2 yrs and still makes the same power. I daily drive the car as well as drag and road race the car! Best time on it was a 13.1 at Pomona Raceway. Its a stock block with b16a head and ITR cams

rite on but on that DA was the block bone stock w/pistons? Any problems with the sleeves did they hold up driving everyday on the high comp. pistons? Because i think i could do pistons at the least and new bearings, rod bolts,W.pump,O.pump etc but i heard b20 sleeves are a bit weak didn't think about pistons and stock sleeves.
