well, i got back from alabama the other day. no one mentioned the 20 f-ing miles of construction that they are doing on I-20, anyhow, among our adventures on the way there... a huge chunk of metal about the size of a distributor came flying out from under the truck in front of me and i had no way to avoid it, my b/f who was behind me said i was sparking fast and the furious style as i ran over it, after we got off to check everything out we got back on and were crusing half in the emergency lane and half in a regular lane with a transfer truck so close i could reach out and touch it, and lo and behold a construction barrel is in the middle of my "lane", i swerve to miss it only to kick it with my rear tire, spinning it into my b/f's car... well we actually made it to b-ham with the cars intact, only to have the valet at the hotel take a HUGE chunk out of my c/f front spoiler. with no way to prove it, we were sent on our way with an extra $32 charge for the "valet parking"
huh, go figure? well i just needed to vent, and wanted to forewarn anyone if they are headed out that way, there's construction on both sides of I-20 near b'ham and they literally have you driving half in the e-lane and half in the other with barrels on one side and trucks on the other. it sucked!!

 

**** that, if my car was as nice as yours I would have ran that truck off the road and then checked my car......and about the valet, that homo probably fucked up your clutch too if he didnt know how to drive a nice honda, and he deffinetly would have got an *** wupin for that ****

I hope you get to take your aggression out on something real soon, it must be dangerous to walk around with all this on your mind

That is why I would never valet the ITR. That's also why I never really take the ITR on any road trips. It can stay safely in my garage. That really sucks about your trip...

 

sorry to hear such a shitty trip. all the modest road trips in my r have been decently fun.

 

yea the construction really blows...ill be driving through it tomorrow...and again on sunday.

 

yeah dave's crx was sold, apparently no one in that area does ANYTHING like that to their cars, the kid drove it into a local shop and immediatly got a sponsorship from them. he also bragged about beating a civic that was spraying. we're like "great the kid's aready beating the **** out of the car"

and there really wasnt a choice whether or not to valet park, it was either do that or park on the street, which is something i really didnt want to do. plus our room was where we could look out of the window and see our cars in the hotel lot.

good news is the new spoiler will be in on tuesday, (thanks to dave!) and i just got my new bumper put on and core support straightened at honda carland (alpharetta ga) ... i have to give props to them for doing such a wonderful job on getting paint matched and lined up right!! (for those of you who dont know a girl backed in to me in the middle of the road, yes, i obviously have really bad luck with my car and people hitting it, how do you think i got the jdm conversion ) so everthing should be back in order next week!!!

and for those interested, i will probably sell the old bumper, its only mildly damaged and can be fixed with a color change. just e-mail me.

Honda Carland is a good place to go, if you know people there. I believe Ryan (ryan12321) works there part time (or used to). He's @ Athens now, if I'm not mistaken... has a blue Si.

yeah i'm still going to sell that bumper, i'm trying to decide whether or not to go ahead and get it refinished and ready to paint. i'll send pictures of it to anyone who is interested, so if you know of anyone who has wrecked theirs and wants a cheap replacement let me know.

and you know, normally those barrels are filled with sand and water so they wont move, but this one had been thrashed, so i guess it had already been hit several times before i came across it. my friend in ath, had one "blow" into his ek after a strong gust of wind so i guess sometimes they dont bother with weighing them down.

yeah, valet-alabama... i had my questions too...
we stayed in one of them-there fancy hotels....
basically they didnt have very much on-site parking so they hired some one to double park the cars in the lot and move them around when they needed to get one out....

 

i know this topic is kinda dead, but i thought some of you might find some humor in seeing the damage.

 

Ouch. Did you get any compensation from the hotel?!? You can show the pics from our meet and tell them it was their dumb valet who caused the damage. &lt;sad&gt;

no way to prove that it happened there cosworth, plus a little bit of the story i left out, i had a MAJOR hangover that morning and didnt feel like f-ing with it

i'll be at roada this weekend, are you going?? there seems to be a bit of controversy about the h-t meet vs drift atl... personally i'd rather spend my time at the track than at andretti, i can go there anyday.

that piece that is missing is just part of what is damaged. there are some scratches going up the side from a curb, i assume. also where the hunk of metal hit in the center it is chipped and you can see where the sealer stuff they use is starting to splinter over the carbon fiber. there are "spider webs" through out the top coat.

we should all meet up at road a this weekend. Saturday we are coming back to ath. they are having what is called the twilight criterum, its a bicyle race around downtown athens, the streets are shut down and all the bars rope off outside and it's pretty much a big drink fest. its cool to watch the bike races too because the racers get pretty ruthless. it's very competitive.

 

Ahhhh nothing like good ole I-20 construction. I have been dealing with that **** for over a year now. I drive by it everday so I feel your pain. I actually bent a rim while driving through that mess. Where were you heading and what part of Bham did you stay in? I actually live a couple of miles from I-20. Sorry to hear about the damage on your car.

I always go over my car with the valet before they get there hands on it, even if it makes me look like a dick for making a big deal over a Honda. But a lot of those places have disclaimers that say"we are not responsible for damage to painted plastic bumpers" Talk about a loophole. But it never says anything about Carbon Fiber .. OT: anyone see that Real TV episode where the valets take the Del Sol out on the streets and pull holeshots all over the city?

we stayed right at the very end of 20th st. in the old "historic" hotel, and we went to five points south to go out. it was nice.
and i did go over my car with the valet, but by the time we got back it was a differnent guy and to be honest i was too drunk to go over it (i wasnt driving btw)
