weisco pistons

Just got my new set of weisco pistons for my H22 build up. My question is, what is the greyish coating on the piston skirt? Is that coating for heat resistance or something?

Molley coating, all wieso pistons now come coated. Jeff @ IB has the same coating on his Wiseco piston lines as well.
