I have a set of 17' tenzo-r mean 6 rims for my crx, but found when i went to replace my brakes that the tires in the front are wearing really bad on the way inside of the tire, The car passed inspecation just a week early and makes me wonder if they even looked that the damn tires becuase they are bald on the inside. Is this a caliper problem? or just the fact that the car is sitting 2inches higher, and if i wear to get coilovers and lower it two inches would it solve this problem?

 

sounds like a camber issue or an alignment problem to me had the same problem and after installing a camber kit and getting it aligned the problem went away

 

you need to get an alignment. your camber seems to be off if your going through the inside of your tires.

changing to lowering springs or coilovers will not solve your problem.

get an alignment.


after you install lowering springs or coilovers you will have to get another alignment and may need a camber kit... ifyour going to get about 2"s lower than stock i assure you will need a camber kit or buy new tires every few months.

kill 2 birds with one stone...get your suspension the way you want it than get the alignment.


oh yeah.... why would your car be jacked up 2"s higher? are you thinking that a 17" rim makes your car higher.....it doesn't as long as your running a 205/40/r17 or 195/40/r17 your car will not be any higher than stock.

 

hhhmm i see, It may not be 2in higher but it's definetly higher then when i have my si rims on there, aa not sure what my tires are on the 17's but they are low profile tires, I'll have to check tonight when i get home, also wheres a good place/compnay to get a camber kit from?

 

If the tires are wearing extremely on only the inside edge, I'd be willing to be that you have a good amount of toe-out (NOT necessarily negative camber!). Take your car to an alignment shop and have them center the toe setting as close as they can.

 

question, when they inspect your car do they check the aligment at all? Or is that something I should keep ontop of?

Not that I know of in PA. Alignment is something you have to have done yourself.
