Default Ignitor Problems

I just changed my ignitor about 2.5 months ago and it has gone out again this morning or so I think it has gone out. It is reading a code 15. Last time I was gonna get a whole distributor, but Honda said to just change the ignitor/control module if the housing was still good. That's supposedly what goes out when you have dist. problems. I bought a new ignitor/control module, so I am gonna try this but, my question is, Why do these things go out so much????

In case anyone needs to know I have a '92 Prelude Si w/ vtec tranny

i think my 94 si lude is having the same problem but i am not sure. my car completley has power somtimes when you hit the gas around 2400 rpms. it sounds like an oozy going off, you can hear mass air going in the intake but its like there is no spark at all. it only does it sometimes and when i push in the clutch going down the road and rev and then put back into gear it works fine for a little bit. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

are you positive the ignitor is the problem?
have you ever changed your main relay or ign coil?
does this just happen when the car is warmed up?
just to let you know, if you buy the dizzy, it doesn't come
with the ignitor.

I am almost sure it is the ignitor. I bought a distributor from my job (Advance Auto) and it started up fine, but then the distributor they sold me wouldn't let it rev over 3000 rpms. So I took it back, got a refund and asked my boys from Honda to look at it.

They told me to change the ignitor/control module in the distributor, because thats usually the only thing that goes out in the dizzy. Mind you, honda sells the dizzy in pieces, the housing being the highest ($350). They gave me another ignitor to use, I put it in and it ran like new again.
Now 2.5 months later, my bf driving it to work and it cuts off in the middle of driving again. He tows it home and I check the code (15, same as last time) I had a brand new ignitor from my job to put in it back then but I used the free one instead, hoping to get $100 back. Anyways I put the new one in and it runs fine.
My question was why do they go out like that???
