Yeah I know that this is more of a personal decision, but I'm confused.I was thinking of selling my FBP to get a CW because I've seen higher mileage CW's go from $11,200 to $15,000 so I could sell my car for hopefully around $20k and have the rest of the money to mod the CW.I'm trying to build a fast street/track ITR on a budget.Has anybody else ever done this or thought of doing it or am I just crazy?
I say you keep your car, since you know the history and everything. Save yourself some headaches. IMO, it's not worth the trouble of selling, buying, fixing, etc.
Get the idea?

True, but it's hard to keep clean. It would be alot easier to just keep my car since I already have a few mods, but a CW with built motor, final drive, rollcage and teins sounds really nice though

Your right this is a dumb question. If you would read the post you would see that if he sold his FBP he could buy a CW (which are cheaper because they are more popular) for around 8 to 5 000 less than what he got for his FBP. This extra money he planned to use to mod the CW into a track car. So painting his car would accomplish nothing except cost him money which he is cleary trying to avoid

True.
I think Asahi sold his PY to get a CW.
Personally, I would take the CW, its a classic.

Do it. Sell the black one... but, I bet that would take forever these days. And, I don't think you will get $20k for it due to the market condition.
CW holds value better than any other MY & color. Period.

is this due to the fact that there were less produced and therefore are less available?

Yeah I think I'm gonna try to sell it then and find a cw.I hope I can pull $20k out of my car. That would be the only way I could sell it.If I couldn't get what I wanted for selling it I would be kicking my self in the ***,because I bought the car for $18k 6 months ago and I have spent at least $5k in different mods and fixing stuff that was broken when I got it.So all in all I have about 23k into my car without including my labor cost.I would hope I can at least get $20k for it,because I know you can never get out of a car what you put in it.
Do it man! You can get a 97 or 97 with 90K for around $11-12,000 if you drive a hard bargain. BTW, I just gave the '97 the weekly clean and FBP is easier to clean/ keep clean, but that doens't matter much.
Have you had to do anything else to it?

Sure did and haven't looked back. I only saved about $2500. I did it purely for the color.

Miles??? What mods? Broken stuff??????
You have to consider that you are going to have to pay taxes again on the CW which will run over $1K and then you are left with less than what you hoped. I cant remember the last R I saw that sold for $20K from a private party. This is unless you have like 10K miles on it. I would say selling/ buying is a bad idea. If you are still intent- part your R out and return to stock. you will get more for the mods+ stock car than if you sold as is.
Good luck!

Not because it's black, but because of the year, mileage, and overall condition.A 2000 with 50k miles is worth more than a 97 with 110k.See where I'm coming from?

What about a 98 with 45k miles?

Where?
Where?
You'll never get 20K for a 00' w/ 50,000. Just as a general overview of today's market, I bought my 00' R this summer w/ 12,000 original miles,completely stock, and in absolutely flawless condition for $18,850. You'd probably see 17K for yours.
In my eyes it's a stupid idea, but to each his own
