Problems with rotor screw coming out?
does anyone else have a problem with the screw that holds the distributor rotor in, coming out? ive it come out twice now.. i decided to heck with it and put loc-tite on it. i had it properly torqued before.. and both times it came out and left me stranded!
if you are going down the road and your car starts sounding like its backfiring and has really bad loss of power / irratic idle, or dies.. its probably your rotor screw!

I've had to replace the rotor screw twice, once in the walmart parking lot and once a few days later when I was driving into town I felt the car chugging so I pulled over tookthe cap off and the rotor slid right off.
Luckily I carry my tools with me just in case of course and fixed it and was on my way. Checked it a few days later, loose again, damnit, haha. Bought some locktite and haven't had a problem yet. Been 2 weeks now with probably 500 miles or so, before it took like 100-150 for it to come really loose...Also I had some bad valve lash for a while which probably made more vibration.

Make sure you are using non-magnetic type screws when replacing the old ones. And a little bit of loctite shouldn't hurt......until you go to take it off

WTF? red will lock that **** up so tight....
Use Blue or Purple its enough to keep it in there... but enough that itll come off again when you want it to

This happend to me about a week after i got my CRX... wasn't cool.
But like what was stated before, just throw some loctite, i forget which one is the insanely strong one... yeah, dont use that one (red i believe, correct me if i'm wrong) but if you throw some blue should do the trick, that way if you ever need to replace wont give you too much hell but just enough to keep it in

man 1st day i actually got my Rex running good the screw snapped and since i had no mechanic knowledge i had no clue what it was i thought i bent a valve cause it didnt wanna start $3 lata she was running again any 1 in the Bronx or Westchester area (lookin 4 a friendly race)
wow, well atleast im not the only one with the rotor screw problem.. lol.
it was funny this last time mine came out, i had just passed some slow *** tahoe on ga400. i was runnin about 75mph after i passed them and then my car started backfiring and smokin right in front of them.. lol i probably looked like the biggest jackass in the world
but i used loctite this time.. i will probably have to replace the damn distributor before i get that screw back out again. atleast its a new rotor

this is the rotor inside the distributor.. it should not be loose at all. the screw should be very tight and the rotor itself should not spin unless the engine is running or the distributor is off of the car
other than epoxying it in there (i dont see a reason not to if loctite isnt working).
the root cause may be a bad ball bearing and its heating up and vibrating.
