What is a good brand and out-take size for an exhaust to replace the stock, for a 96 with a H23 engine?? any suggestions??

Greddy catbacks are good. Thermal Research and Development, DC, 5zigen, mugen, JUN are good as well.

Custom mandrel bent with high-flow cat and Magnaflow muffler....

Cheaper and just as good.

Cheaper is not always good. Always remember that you get what you pay for! And another thing, you would be replacing that set up in about 3 years cause it rusted through!

Not if it's assembled properly. Or you use stainless.

And I have to disagree that you always get what you pay for. There are cold-air intakes on eBay for $80 that are higher quality than the AEM ones. Same goes for an exhaust - in a lot of cases you're just paying for the brand name & CARB#. Just use quality components & have it assembled by someone who knows what they're doing.

Yeah, stainless won't rust...I love mine and I got it with high flow cat, muffler and piping for the same price as an EVO, or WS for example....

Daemione is right... You pay out the *** for brand names, and with certain things like exhaust and intake, there is no reason to pay that much... If you are going to buy a cat back, I say Apexi... I have an Apexi Dunk cat-back on my 98 Lude and I love it... Dunks were replaced a while ago by "world sport"s but they are pretty much the same... If I had to do it again, I would probably go custom, just find a good muffler shop and get yourself hooked up with a good hi-flow cat and a magnaflow muffler, Apexi also sells their N1 muffler alone too... Regarding size... If you are running your engine without turbo or supercharger 2.25" will do just fine as long as you are pushing moderate HP... for turbo and supercharger... depending on how much power... up to 3.5"...

I have just a cheap muffler off ebay, and custom exhaust piping and I really like the way it sounds...nice tone and deep. Does the actual muffler really matter? I hear a lot about magnaflow...whats better about that muffler compared to some knock off like you get on ebay?

some knock offs are total ****... but it sounds like urs was made with some care and expertise... thats the thing with ebay... there are some semi-proffesionals making great products and selling them cheap on ebay, while some people produce absolute **** and sell it on ebay with an add that makes you think its pro constructed and high quality... like I said I would go custom if I did it all again...

Default Apexi

Apexi would be the best choice performance wise for the prelude...if you don't mind the noise.
