Default GSR crank/rods in B20???

Ive searched but couldnt come up with much. As a low budget alternative to sleeving a b18c block, im thinking about just geting a b20 block and using a GSR crank and rods. Ive heard that with that setup it will be just as high reving as a b18c and using stock b20 pistons it boosts compression to almost 11 (not quite sure about that). And geting a b20 shortblock, and just a GSR crank and rods would be alot cheaper then a b18 block, sleeves, pistons, labor......so does anyone use this setup?

yes it works, but the B20 block will need an external line for running the Vtec head, and you'll need to plug up the internal oil orafice in the head. Also the B20 sleeves are nowhere near as strong as the GSR sleeves, they are know to be easily crackable....however i've had NO problems with my overbored all-motor (12.5:1 compression) B20 bottom end (stock sleeves)....

i would HIGHLY suggest getting slighly overbored pistons (84.25, or 84.5mm) if you go this route....trying to get 84mm forged pistons to give you the correct piston to wall clearence is almost impossible unless you're starting out with less than an 84mm bore.

I was told you cant use forged pistons with stock sleeves? Everyones been telling me forged pistons eat up the stock sleeves. ???

I understand i will need an oil line kit, and i know the sleeves are weaker, theyre just thinner. But i dont plan on runing boost so i think they will be able to handle it. Anyone have anymore info? What compression will this setup yield with the stock b20 pistons?

stock B18C rods and crank with B20 factory pistons? will give you the same CR as the B20, just with less stroke....Since they have the same PTDH

Won't that lower your displacement?? Just balance and micropolish the crank.

omniman did this and got 10.7 cp out of b20z pistons which is almost unheard of. he made about 215 to the wheels but it's a street motor so he was mostly looking for midrange.

(Sorry, this is not dareseven)

Would you use the stock b20 girdle, mains, and bearings on this build? Or get the gsr bearings with the stock girdle and mains?

A friend (dareseven) said that the stock girdle would be good enough for a high rev build..... is he correct?
