Default Question for those with Skunk2 Exhaust on DC5

have you experienced any leaks where the exhaust bolts up to the cat? if so what gasket did you use to fix it? i used the gaskets that came with the exhaust but they started leaking and the bolts were tight. i tried replacing them with gaskets by Mr. Gasket (header collector gaskets) but there is still a leak. i went and got a factpry gasket from acura and it wont stay in place. the guy at acura told me it was a "smash gasket" whatever that means, and they wont put it on for me cause i have an aftermarket exhaust. can someone please help a girl out.

I've never had any problem with mine and it's been on for about a year and a half. First make sure thats where it's leaking. If your positive thats where it's coming from I'd contact Skunk2 and try to get the gasket they provide and replace it. The other one you had may have just been a bad one.

would a copper gasket fix it? i know the header collector gaskets by Mr. Gasket are not metal, but thought a metal one might work. THanks.

I would contact skunk2 and let them know about the problem. Most likely they will send you a new gasket for free. As for me i had the exhaust for about 5 months, i haven't experienced any problems like that. A copper gasket might fix the prob, but why spend money if you can possibly get it for free.

actually i am starting to think i have the same problem a friend had with the same exhaust on a different car. there is a possibility that the flange where it connects to the cat has a slight warp in it. going to take it off the car and check it out with a level, then contact Skunk2 AGAIN cause they have never wrote me back about the gasket.
