Well...what is the fuel cut off? 8500?

If your on stock tire size...that would be roughly 159 MPH.

 

nitto street slicks up front 205-45-15
potenzas in the back 195-50-15

 

where did you do a top speed run at? The Garden State Parkway?? You're lucky a trooper didn't get ya. Probably would have thrown your *** in jail and impounded your car. Keep it off the public roads man, that's what tracks were designed for.

hahah but it goes past the 150 mark and still doesn't red line....I did it once and i assumed it was about 157 or something..... give or take 1 mph..... It was fun ,, but not worth it if i would have got caught.......

That would probably calculate to 159 but that isn't accounting for drag which would probably slow the car to the 140 range.

 

damn... how do you get to 150+ in an R???? before i always heard of 130-140...

It takes less of a distance than you would think.I have done this a few times.

 

Where is a good spot to pull this off?

 

With AEM CAI and no powersteering I was able to hit a speedometer indicated 148mph in 0.85miles.

 

Drag will only keep you from getting to a speed. If your car is geared for a certain mph and you hit the rev limiter thats how fast you were going.

You need over 210+ whp to get to the fuel cut off in an R (8,600).

Stock R's do 143, and you picked up over 15 mph in top speed from minimal mods??

People always seem to have no concept of aerodynamics and wind resistance when they talk about top speed driving.

Where's the pic Lip had of him doing about 158?? And he didn't tach it out, and had over 190 whp .......

Regarding the drag issue:

if the tachometer is correct, the conversion using the gear ratio and wheel size to linear speed will ALWAYS be accurate.

There is drag acting, but there is no correction to be performed on the speed value obtained from the RPM reading.

 

How hard was it pulling up to redline?

I just hit 140 last week! It was ******* awesome! Car felt stable, and was still pulling really strong. Nothing like being in 5th gear when vtec kicks in!

You should do it again and get it on video.
