Default Engine Sounds 'Ticky'

Driving around recently I have noticed that the engine sounds very 'ticky'. Is this an indication that I need a valve adjustment?

I haven't had the radio on for awhile, so maybe this is normal and I just haven't really noticed it.

Mine makes a light 'ticky' sound.

Sounds sort of like a sewing machine

I'm noticing the same thing and am wondering if I just haven't been paying attention. I can hear the valves tick clearly.

I noticed that the valves are particularly loud at startup, which is likely normal.

So does anyone else reccommend a vavle adjustment, or is this normal??

Might as well check the clearances.

It means your VTAK is bad and needs more nawz.

Mine ticks ridiculously loud even after adjustments, always has, always will.

could be simply the fuel injectors pulsing . could be the valves need adjusting. my car was always kinda noisy to me. i never paid it much attention cuz it always ran awesome .

mine has been ticky since the day it rolled out of the dealership.....if there is a very obvious tick that sounds like a loud metal to metal sound then get it checked out......most likely it just the valve "sewing machine" type noises which are normal

Not just ITR. My wife is constantly asking me what the ticking sound is in the GSR. Stiff valvesprings + RC injectors = diesel motor sound :s

After going back to a type R ('00 to '97) after owning a 97 GS-T that purred if you really listened closely, I thought it was loud as hell! I actually forgot how noisey it is.

Nowadays, all those noises and a cup of caffienated coffee get me to work on time and sometimes even early.
