Default i keep blowing up headlights... wtf

it seems like a trip to pep boys for new headlights is a monthly thing for me... i put new bulbs in, and about 3 weeks to a month later, they blow up. not just blow out the fillament, the glass of the bulb actually shatters. i checked the headlight for anything that could be hitting the bulb when i go over bumps, but theres nothing. i figure its the wiring, but where? the housings on both of my headlights have holes in them, so maybe water is getting in there and hitting hte bulbs causing a temperature change making the bulb shatter? i dunno... i fgured yall may have some insight.

Are you touching these bulbs with your bare hand?

Ya thats what I meant, I guess I should of been more specific. I dont think a little moisture will do it, as mine some times gets a little inside and fogs up but my lights dont burn out. I've had the same set for over a year now.

But if that hole is letting that much water in, then yes, it is very possible that it may be causing this.

If you're getting water in it, then it could splash up and hit the bulb and pop it when it's hot. I had this problem and solved it by drilling a drain hole in the bottom of my headlight. I used to get a little puddle of water in there. HTH

You should also try checking all the headlight wiring, your might have a short, ground, or bad wiring somewhere.

what color is your car.....i.e. y-49??

lol sorry, the only other car i heard of this happening to is a yellow crx. His lightbulb socket seal was loose, allowing it to rattle and shatter.
