Default stupid CEL question

could having low coolant cause the check engine light to turn on?

it turned on today, couldnt find any problems other than the coolant being low... filled it up, the light didnt turn off, so i reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery, its off now, hasnt turned on since...

did i do the right thing?

o yeah, forgot you had to do the wire thing with it... would a paper clip work?

also, even though the light is out now, is it safe to say that if the problem still persists, it would turn back on?

just making sure i didnt mess anything up by pulling the battery cable or something...

thanks for the help

Yup everything that can hold a electric current (speaker wire, any wire, paper clip, staple) Turn the key on to the on position. watch the codes flash. when u see the code. look it up on my list. fix what needed to be fixed then remove the ECU backup fuse in the fuse box under the hood, or remove the negative terminal for 5 mins. and see if the CEL went away. GL to you
