Default H23 in a eg??

Just curious about 93 or 94 H23 in a EG........i've never actually seen this swap in a hatch before..only a h22...is this motor comparable to an LS besides the fact that theres more torque? Since the h22 is so popular i was wondering why the h23 never got so much fame.

Had to "re-word" what i was trying to say since people are getting the wrong idea

Judging by the 160HP stock rating, but with a helluva lot more torque, I'd say anywhere from 14.6-14.9 depending on the driver.

id just save the extra money and get the jdm h22a from hmotorsonline... a guy here had swapped a JDM H22A w/ LSD Tranny in a 92 hatch, and ran it at the track with 13"s and pulled a 13.4 all motor with only a intake on the car...

dunno what an h23 would run NA, but mine(before it was mine it had an h23) with a 75 shot and ran a 13.5 @ 105, in comparison to the h22, naturally aspirated it ran 13.4 @ 104, hope that helps............................John

Its only a simple question of whats its capable of and if anyone has done this. I'm not challenging anyone nor am i the owner of a swap like this. Its just for basic knowledge since its a uncommon swap around here. There's only like 800 other people asking about engine setups in their EGs on this EG section of HT. Go police the drug dealers and gangbangers of society and let me ask my fellow EG'ers for their opinions and experience.

But thanks H22John...that gives me a good idea. Thanks for the help

The H23 tranny is pretty crappy and the motor obviously lacks vtec. What you can do is get the H23 block and put the H22 vtec head on it. Also get the H22 tranny. That would be a nice setup.

Heh--good to see that you've continued to stick w/ the Hondas, too.

h22 tranny on the h23 wouldnt be bad but adding the vtec head is death, my freind blew up 4 h23 vtecs built by three different people.

My h23 92 prelude (2,700lbs gutted) ran very well... So i'm sure in a light hatch its a very nice swap to have.
Mods were:
AEM cai
DCSports 4-2-1 header
2.25 test pipe
2.25 exhaust
Dizzy timeing fully advanced w. 110 oct. ran 14.6 @ 95
Stock timing (middle) w. 93 oct. ran 15.0 @ 91

I know.. 2 differnt cars... But still it was a 2700lb car. imagine a 2200 civic

Hope that helps?
