Default How To: Si swaybar on your civic.

I recently installed a civic si swaybar on my 6th gen civic ex. Needless to say, it made my car handle so much better. For all of you out there without a sway bar, this is an easy and affordable way to go. The link below has directions on how to do it, enjoy.

How big is the SI sway bar?

How does it compare to the LS and GSR sway bars?

If memory serves, the Si bar is 13mm. Not sure about the LS/GS-R.

The Si sway bar is 13mm, so is the LS. The gsr bar is 14mm, the type r is 22mm. The only one that directly bolts up to the 6th gen is the si sway bar. If you want to get a thicker rear sway bar on your civic, like the gsr or type r, i would suggust getting a thicker one for the front too because the type r rear sway bar is much thicker than the stock civic front sway bar.

i was so hoping this was for the front sway bar.

the rear should be a purely bolt-on affair, no brainer.

nice effort though.

It isn't essential though. I am running a 19mm rear bar and 0 front sway bar on my VX, and it does not feel unsafe or dangerously oversteer. Now whether the front bar might balance out the handling and improve it overall, I can not say.

im a noob, i just wanted some input on why getting a swaybar off of an SI would be better as opposed to buying one aftermarket? price? handling? or what? If choosing the SI bar because of price, if price wasn't an issue, would aftermarket necessarily be better?

Can the Si sway work with aftermarket LCA's? To be more specific the SPC LCAs

it depends on what you want, for me, the Si sway bar is enough, i don't road race, i'm mostly going for 1/4 mile. You can always get a thicker sway bar, but the Si ones are pretty cheap and if you do get a thicker rear than the Si, you should probably upgrade the front sway bar as well.

The Si rear swaybar is a good upgrade for a Civic EX. I have one myself. Just be sure you torque it to factory specs.

its cheap, and easy to come by if you wait a bit on the classifieds. most people that have moved up to comptech and itr and whatnot have an si bar laying around. i got mine with endlinks for 55 shipped. pretty cheap upgrade. i hear that you dont really feel it unless your other suspension is upgraded as well
