Default How hot do amps get?

I was thinking about making a false floor/amp rack for my trunk (99 Integra GS sedan), like many of you have, but I just want to make sure that the amps don't get to hot. I am running a Rockford Fosgate 400a4 and a Rockford Fosgate 250a2 (I usually don't push them that hard). How much room do these amps need to breathe? Do I even need to be worried about them getting hot at all? Do I need to have some sort of air circulating under the top "floor"? Thanks for your input.

You should have at least 1-2 inches of space above the amps to allow air flow. YOu can always rig a small computer fan to blow cold air over top of them.

yes they'll get hot, but like pnthr said, 1-2 inches of room will do, dont enclose the whole area so no air circulates, but you can get one of those computer fans, or some type of tiny fan to vent out the area...

One time i accidently leaned on my amp after using it for like 30 minutes (tried to tune it). It was hot enough to make me scream out some curse words. I usually don't curse either.

Mine get hot enough to melt shoes. It depends on the amp, some will shut down a lot earlier. Generally they need 2 inches of space but you could go for less with a fan.
